It turns out that, for authors, allowing their books to be borrowed through the Kindle Owner’s Lending Library might not be such a bad idea after all! According to Amazon, authors who allowed their books to be borrowed through the KOLL actually made more sales than the authors who do not allow their books to be borrowed. The authors made 26% more on average compared to authors who did not opt to allow their books to be borrowed.
This is great for authors and readers alike. I hope it will lead to more lending of books! I know I will definitely buy a book I like if I borrowed it and it is good enough. I think this may be the biggest reason for the increase in revenue for these authors. Grabbing a book for free just gives it more exposure and helps them get more buzz about their book. How many times do you tell people about a great book you read? I do it all the time!
