Kindle DX For Christmas 2009 - Kindle DX Reviews

In researching what e-book reading device fits their needs, people find there are numerous choices and plenty of reviews. The models currently available each have there own distinct features. For those that want the latest technological advancements there is one revolutionary e-book reader that stands out. You may be looking for one who has upped their storage capacity from 1500 books to 3500 books. Maybe you desire a battery life that allows you to complete a book before dying out on you. You can download books to it wirelessly without having to hook it up to your laptop. These are the options that make most people turn toward the Kindle DX.

This device is the latest generation Kindle to hit the market. It has had a tremendous makeover while still maintaining the popular features of its predecessor that made them had to purchase last Christmas. An impressive feature is the auto rotating display feature. The screen will change from horizontal to vertical and back depending on how the user is holding it. Its' slim design is very attractive and ideal to be included in your travel kit. This newest generation Kindle DX, different from the Kindle 2, has probably the most innovative new feature.

The latest version is proficient at supporting PDF files. This was a much awaited step up as PDF files are very popular with the online reading material currently available. You will not have to worry about conversion as the this reader will do it seamlessly. The one improvement that sticks out is the increased display size. It has been enlarged from a 6 inch display to a whopping 9.7 inch viewing area. It is now much easier to read books especially if your eyesight has grown restricted in the years.

Another thing that has to be mentioned is Amazon has entered into agreements with certain colleges for trial use of this newest generation e-book reader. There will be e-textbooks that can be downloaded and thereby offering potential savings in the cost of books for the average college student. Overall Kindle DX is superior over iPods and the other electronic gadgets. If you tried last year to get a Kindle and failed this is the year for you to step up.

Amazon Kindle Makes Great Christmas Present This Year

If you've been trying to think of a good Christmas present for the book lover in your family, maybe it's time to get that person an e-book reader. While there are several options on the market now, it's hard to go wrong with the Amazon Kindle. Their new models are very affordable, and there are lots of other features to make this device a winner. Let's take a look:

Easy-to-read "book like" screen

One of the things you'll notice when you turn on a Kindle is there aren't a lot of bells and whistles on the screen - there's not even color! The low-glare Kindle screen is designed so you can read comfortably in bright sunlight, indoor light, and anything in between. It's not back-lit, like a computer screen, so you can't read it in the dark, but this is exactly what makes it easy on the eyes. It's more akin to reading a real book than gazing at a laptop all day. Grab a kindle cover with an attached reading light (lots of them available), and you'll be able to read it anywhere, anytime.

Compact and lightweight

After years of turning my nose up at e-readers in favor of "good old paperback books," I was finally sold by the idea that I could take dozens (thousands!) of books with me when I traveled, and they'd all be stored in this lightweight device. The new Kindles are smaller than a paperback book, but they can hold thousands of hours' worth of reading material. It's a great gift for anyone who travels, even if it's just to go camping a couple times a year.

Long-life battery

This was another selling point for me. I'm an Apple fan (MacBook, iMac, iPhone, iPod!), but I ultimately chose the Kindle over the iPad because I liked the idea of only needing to charge my e-reader once every couple of weeks. I didn't want something that sucked down more power and required daily charging. With the kindle, you can "read War and Peace on a single charge."

Affordable price

This was another reason I chose the Kindle over the iPad. I didn't need all the fancy apps that come with the Apple e-reader (as I mentioned, I already had all those things on my other Apple devices); I just wanted to read books. This is what the Kindle is designed for, and it does it well. It also does it for less than $200 (less than $150 if you get the least expensive model).

Ease of downloading books

You don't ever have to hook the Kindle up to your computer if you don't want to. The wireless comes without a monthly fee (big plus!), and you can connect to Amazon's "whispernet" to shop for ebooks and download them to your device.

All in all, the Amazon Kindle makes a fine Christmas present for book lovers of all ages. Even non-techy people who aren't gadget-fanatics have been known to love this e-reader. Plus, once you buy someone a Kindle, you'll always know what to get them for Christmas and birthdays in years to come (more ebooks!).

Enjoy, and happy holiday shopping.

New Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device Makes The Perfect Christmas Gift For Your Favorite Reader

This amazing new wireless reader is now thinner, lighter, faster and better than ever before. Weighing in at only 8.7 ounces, it's 15% lighter than a paperback book so you can read tirelessly for hours on end, even using just one hand. Its new sleek design has a 21% smaller body while keeping the same 6" diagonal display size.

Just 1/3" thick, thinner than even a magazine, the Kindle can hold up to 3500 books and documents, which is more than double the capacity of the original version, so you don't have to pick and choose which books to squeeze into your purse or carry-on luggage. You can always have your entire Kindle library with you at all times.

With a new longer-lasting battery life, you can read for up to a month on a single charge as opposed to only hours on a tablet or smart phone, and it never gets hot in your hands. The Kindle fully charges in about 4.5 hours using the included U.S. power adapter. You can also recharge the Kindle from your computer with the use of the USB 2.0 cable that is also included. This is the longest battery life on the market, beating out the iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Android, and other devices using back-lit LCD displays.

The new version of Kindle comes with 3G wireless so you can purchase the latest books and magazines over the Internet with no monthly bills or annual contracts. There is no wireless setup, so it's ready to go right out of the box. The built-in 3G connectivity uses the same wireless technology that cell phones use, and Amazon pays for this connectivity for you. This added convenience allows you to download reading materials anytime, anywhere, while on the go, without having to find a Wi-Fi hotspot connection. And with wireless coverage in over 100 countries and territories, the Kindle 3G is a perfect option for travelers.

Kindle's new high-contrast E Ink Pearl technology features a 50% greater contrast than previously available, for the clearest text and sharpest images on the market. The screen looks like actual paper, so it's easy to read even in bright sunlight, with no glare.

The Kindle store at Amazon offers over 750,00 of the world's most popular books and over 610,000 of them are priced at $9.99 or less, including 79 of the newest New York Times bestsellers. You can even download and read the first chapters of a book for free before you decide to buy. You'll also have access to thousands of out-of-copyright classic books for free -- old favorites like Treasure Island, Gulliver's Travels, Pride & Prejudice, and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, to name just a few.

You can read leading magazines like Time, Newsweek and The New Yorker, and newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, USA Today and The New York Times, even before they hit the newsstands. And you can also access more than 9,000 blogs and read PDFs and personal documents on your Kindle.

At a suggested list price of $189, the Kindle comes in either white or graphite.

The new Kindle 3G wireless reader may very well be the most appreciated gift under your Christmas tree this year!

The Kindle DX (for those inside the US) and the Global Kindle (for those outside the US) are the perfect gifts for avid readers. These two digital book readers have a lot more in common than they have differences, so I'll begin by sharing all of the positive features that they both share.

New books are regularly being added to the store.

Kindle 2 - The Most Popular Gift of Christmas 2009

Choosing the right Christmas gift can be a challenge unless you truly know the person. There are other issues that will pop up such as your Christmas budget, but you can still find some great presents for a good deal. For 2009 the list has been generated regarding the most popular gifts for the Christmas season. Many readers are happy as January continues on because they have the Amazon Kindle 2.

The Kindle 2 was among one of the most popular Christmas gifts for 2009. It was even on the list with such items as the Wii Fit, flat screen televisions and more. So why is the Kindle 2 one of the most popular gifts for the past Christmas season?

The Kindle is the next generation of the eReader devices available online. Kindle was the very first electronic reader people could really sink into with its usability, available books, and more. This second generation eReader has more options than the original device all the while keeping the best features of Kindle.

To begin the Kindle is just a little over 1/3 inch, which is about as thick as a magazine. It weighs in at 10.2 ounces, which is less than the pound a paperback book weighs. Furthermore the Kindle 2 takes less than sixty seconds to download an entire book, with no PC required for the download.

Amazon wanted to please their customers with this next gen device, so they worked on the battery life extending the Amazon Kindle 2 battery life by 25 percent. You can read for several days without the need to recharge.

The library can now hold over 1,500 books based on file size. Additionally the Kindle 2 received an upgrade on its capabilities. It has a new text to speech device, so the Kindle can read newspaper, magazine, books, and blog posts out loud. This new feature will remind you of the audio books on sale at stores, except you will have a good amount in savings.

Are you unsure about a book title? Amazon allows you to download and read the first chapters of a book for free before you buy it. It gives you a chance to see if the book is worthy of the cost. Amazon also has over 350,000 books and other reading media to enjoy for download. The New York Times Best Sellers and other new releases are set at $9.99 for the eBooks.

With all of the benefits discussed above and the ability to download almost any book, it takes the wonder out of why the Amazon Kindle 2 was a most popular Christmas gift for 2009. The price is unbeatable at $259.00 for such features as text to speech.

What You Should Know About Amazon's Kindle Fire Before You Give One For Christmas

On September 28, 2011, Amazon.com announced a new product from their Kindle line. This new Kindle model is a full color device that allows the user to read books as well as watch television shows, view movies, read magazines, play apps, and browse the web. The Kindle Fire is being released on November 21, 2011, just in time for the Christmas season. Looking at the success Amazon has with its previous Kindle products, the new one is sure to be a hit.

The Amazon Kindle Fire allows you to access over 18 million pieces of media, including movies, magazines, newspapers, TV shows, apps, and games. They are viewed on the device's 7 inch vibrant color touch screen display. Web browsing done through the new Amazon Silk, a browser built by the company to offer faster page loads and transit times when using the Fire to surf the internet.

Eight GB of internal storage are available on the Fire. This amount of memory holds approximately 80 apps as well as 10 movies, 800 songs, or 6,000 books. Battery life is not as good as the other Kindle versions, but they don't come close to doing what the Kindle Fire can. A single charge can provide 8 hours of power for continuous reading. It will also handle about 7 1/2 hours of video playback before needing to be recharged.

This is a great eReader and tablet all in one that is easy to transport. Weighing 14.6 ounces, it is a lightweight device that can be held in one hand. The Fire measures 7.5 x 4.7 x 0.45 inches, making it easy to carry in your bag. Protective cases are also available for the Kindle Fire on Amazon.com.

Features of the Amazon Kindle Fire

* Wi-Fi connectivity

* Access to 18 million pieces of content, including movies, books, apps, games, and magazines

* Uses Amazon Silk, an accelerated web browser that allows for faster page loads

* 7-inch touch screen display makes reading and web searching easy to see

* Battery lasts 7-8 hours, depending on the activity

* 8GB of internal storage

* Free Unlimited storage on Amazon Cloud

Is the Amazon Kindle Fire Worth It?

Because it is still in the pre-order stage, there are no customer reviews for the Amazon Kindle Fire. However, judging by the success of the past Kindle products, it is safe to say that this one will become a bestselling personal electronic device as well. The Fire is available on Amazon.com for $199, and will ship out on November 21, 2011, making it a great gift choice for the holiday season.

The Best Last Minute Christmas Gift - Amazon Kindle 2

Readers love to read. And readers love to hold a book in their hands and read. Now there is a better way to hold a light weight reader in your hand, and read and read until you are content. The Amazon Kindle 2 leads in sales against the other readers on the market. All eBook readers use monochrome displays using electronic ink. This electronic ink produces sharp easy to read text. By using this ink there is no back lighting for the readers so just as with a book you cannot read in the dark. An e-ink image persists on the screen for up to two weeks on the screen. Readers say there is no glare and it is like reading a piece of paper. Thus it is easy on the eyes.

The Kindle 2 is wireless enabling seamless downloads without a computer from Amazon who now offers more than 230,000 titles that typically cost $9.99 even for bestsellers. You use a micro USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable to charge the already long lasting battery. Amazon uses a Whispernet network and there is no better way to buy e-books. Turn on the EV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) modem, and the Kindle will

automatically connect to the Amazon.com store. From there, any book in the Kindle catalog can be downloaded in less than 60 seconds. Whispernet uses Sprint's EVDO 3G (Rev A) network. You will not have to look for a hotspot.

Although the Kindle 2 costs the same as the original Kindle, it has eight times the storage. Amazon claims you can store more than 1,500 books on its 2GB of internal flash memory (1.4GB is available to the user)-compare that to the 256MB, 400-book capacity of the original. All of your book and magazine purchases are also backed up online, so if you delete books on the device, you can always re-download them from the cloud. The original Kindle debuted in November 2007 and was an instant hit selling out quickly. The Kindle 2 was available for purchase on February 23, 2009 and it is the highest selling reader.

Newspapers, magazines and blogs are also available to download to your Kindle 2. You may download and read first chapters before you decide to buy the book. You may also get newspapers from France, Germany and Ireland. Time would be saved if you could read all your favorite blogs on this device at one time. They are updated throughout the day.

The Kindle 2 features 16-level greyscale display, (an image in which the value of each pixel is a single sample) a text-to-speech option to read the text aloud, and overall thickness reduced from 0.8 to 0.36 inches (9.1 millimeters). That is thin! Color would be nice but not possible yet.

The Kindle 2 has responsive buttons that are easier to manage and you will not accidentally push them. The keyboard is also easier to use than the Kindle 1 when you type in your author or title or if you search for documents.

Avid readers insist that you save money on books when you use a Kindle. What a dreamy thing to take on vacation or auto or plane trips. No lugging heavy books and magazines. Weight and luggage space is certainly something to consider on the plane trips this year. Ask Santa for a Kindle 2 this year and tell him I want one, too.

Where to Buy Kindle - Amazon's Next Generation Wireless Reading Device

I love the fact that the Kindle is crowded with the latest technology of a laptop; however, one third its' size. It functions, seeks and downloads wireless over a 3G network (similar to the network used for cell phones). Thus getting rid of the unwieldy USB cords and mad searches to detect a WIFI hot spot. The real stunner is that there are no monthly bills or costs involved for the wireless features.

A storage answer is supplied by Amazon for regular and consistent readers. Those that read a lot purchase many books as they wouldn't know where to place them all. Kindle 2 solves the related problem - the want of storage place by being able to back them up on Amazon and well access them via wireless technology. Because of the computer backup service the possibility of book ownership is infinite.

Invest in a Kindle and you can browse, research, shop, read and download items in essentially any location that has cellular phone service! You can lookup WIKIs (basically like an encyclopedia internet site), read blogs, utilize the inbuilt dictionary, purview Microsoft documents, download books, magazines, newsprints and audio books while on travel.

I've observed that the Kindle performs surprisingly well in direct sun light while you catch rays by the pond. The Kindle can be controlled in one hand and the QWERTY keyboard allows for for rapid typing for both right and left handed users. The well thought out ergonomic buttons and finger scrolling abilities make page screening quick and easy. The battery can be fully charged in two hours and should supply four to six hours of constant use.

How to Get a Kindle in Canada This Christmas

"I want a Kindle in Canada for Christmas." A simple sentence that can spell frustration for anyone who has tried to purchase a Kindle for shipment in Canada.

A lot of Canadians think that Kindle has the best e reader on the market - Kobo vs Kindle notwithstanding. Trouble is, unless you really reside in the Land of the Free, getting one can simply be a hassle.

But times are changing! If you need to purchase a Kindle this Xmas (or you want someone to buy one for you), here's how to save time and hard-earned cash.

What Kindles can you have in Canada?

Not all of the Kindle products are available for shipping to Canada and, depending where you are on the Amazon internet site, it can be tough to find out.

Until just recently, you had to begin at amazon.com to find out about Kindle. Now, however, it is a bunch faster to begin at the Canadian internet site-- amazon.ca-- where they let you know right away what models are able to be shipped to Canada.

And that alone will definitely save you a lot of time.

Here are the three Kindles that you could get in the last week of November-- and a possible fourth.

1. Kindle Wi-Fi

6" E Ink Display $ 109 US. This is actually the closest you'll get to a Kindle Touch that you can have shipped to Canada. It is actually not a "true" touch model (read more below) but the others are keyboard models.

2. Kindle Keyboard 3G

Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display, $ 189 US. This is the best as well as most flexible of the keyboard Kindles.

. 3. Kindle Keyboard DX

Free 3G, 3G Works Globally, Graphite, 9.7" Display with new E Ink Pearl. List $ 379 US The larger screen makes this appealing, especially for graphic-rich books as well as PDFs

4. Kindle Keyboard, Wi-Fi 6" E Ink Display - $ 139 US however.....

This is the more affordable variation of # 2 above. Trouble is, it is listed as out-of-stock for delivering to Canada, but available within the U.S. It's worth checking to see if this status changes.

Exactly what Kindles do you want?

While it is depressing not to be able to order the new Kindle Touch in Canada, there are some good reasons why you might have the finest e reader in Canada in this assortment.

The # 1 Kindle above-- the 2011 Kindle Wi-Fi-- gives you the newest technology with the exception of the touch screen. Navigation is by means of a 5-way controller below the screen, and a menu button. The benefit right here is you don't have sweaty fingerprints and sun lotion on the screen.

This most recent style is lighter, thinner, as well as faster. The other available Kindles are the previous generation keyboard models.

Many customers prefer the outside keyboard-- it's a lot simpler to use than stabbing at a little piece of screen real estate. These earlier units have the advanced E-Ink Pearl Display but, compared with the new Touch Kindles as well as the Wi-Fi noted here, they are a tad heavier and thicker.

It is not clear how much of a negative this is, if at all, because there are going to be concerns regarding the durability of the brand-new lighter, thinner designs.

Exactly how to buy

Amazon has finally streamlined the awkward out-of-U.S. order method, however it still possesses some land mines.

If you have never experienced it in the past, check out the link at the bottom of this article for the best way to buy a Kindle in Canada.

So is there an Xmas present here?

The new Kindle Wi-Fi is a superb e reader as well as wafer-thin enough to stuff in the hip pocket. Amazon delivers no indication when, if ever, the Kindle Touch line will be available outside the U.S. And for many users, it may not matter: you may feel you have the best of the bunch in the three available right now.
