Amazon Kindle 2 Design and Features

When hearing about Kindle 2, some thinks of Apple. This new model by Amazon is incredibly slim and sleek. The profile and design are impressive and are very easy on the eyes. It does not glare and makes the reader read even in long hours without giving an eye strain.

The original Kindle design is impressive and this new model is younger and sexier version of it. Kindle 2 is the improve version of the original Kindle. It boost with software and the performance is enhanced which sets this wireless reading device apart from its competitor.

Kindle 2 is using an e-ink technology which makes the book texts look more print-like than digital in appearance. The screen size is 6 inches and it is monochrome in display which requires an external light source to view, much like a regular paperback. With this, the screen does not glare and that readers don't need to contort themselves into an awkward position just to view text clearly.

This device is capable of adding more details to images and making standard text pop better with its 16 shades of gray. Those who love reading books will be glad to know that Kindle 2's font size is adjustable. The text can be adjusted into 6 different text sizes. Kindle 2's screen can also be rotated. Rotation from portrait to landscape is very possible and this gives a more pleasant view of maps, graphs, tables, web pages and others similar.

The Battery life of Kindle 2 is worth its price. For the user to easily replace the battery, it is sealed into the back of the unit. With wireless on, the battery will last to 5 days and with wireless off it would lasts until two weeks of use.

Amazon has also had this great idea of integrating Whispernet in its new Kindle model. This feature allows users to tap into Amazon's vast online Kindle Store anywhere. Accessing of websites is now very easy with this device.

The Amazing Amazon Kindle DX Design

EBook readers today come with different sizes and nowadays, whatever the size is, it doesn't matter anymore. Kindle 2 seems like what most people want to have but since the release of Kindle DX, the popularity of Kindle 2 has gone down. This device although has a bigger screen than Kindle 2 but it offers great new tricks for users. "It is time to green up and get with the digital revolution" is what this model wants to show to the academic publishers. Amazon just recently announced that this device has reached an agreement with three major textbook publishers although, to date, there are no actual textbooks distributed to this device.

The screen is the most obvious thing about this eReader. Its screen is a lot bigger than the other Kindle models. The screen size of this model is 9.7 inches which is equivalent to the whole size of Kindle 2 model. With this bigger screen size reading books feels entirely more like reading a novel because the amount of content on each page is the same. Users can see two and a half Kindle 2 pages on Kindle DX screen. This is quite noticeable. Because Kindle DX is bigger in size, the weight is also heavier than Kindle 2. The design is streamlined which is good to have a more natural feeling upon holding it.

This model also has a very sensitive orientation sensor. This means that whenever you want to change position, the screen also shifts accordingly. Moving one side to the other makes the orientation kick in and move the screen accordingly. Kindle DX rotation does not need a full 90-degree turn to trigger screen rotation.
