Now the new Kindle 2.0 is finally out, and there is a lot of buzz in the readers' society. Some people might ask why didn't Amazon release the new Kindle 2.0 in color? I personally prefer it to be in black and white, making it the experience as close as possible to reading an actual book. Besides, having color screen is going to consume much more battery power. I would not sacrifice battery life to have color, so to me it's not a big deal that Kindle did not release the new one with color, although they now have 16 shades of gray, as compared to 4 shades in the original.
The amazing part of the whole Kindle experience is the Kindle Store. I was waiting for someone one day and I wanted to read something other than what I was reading on the Kindle at the time. I went to the Kindle Store and downloaded the latest version of Newsweek, on the spot. It was much cheaper too, since no one's paying for paper, packaging or shipping. Not only that, I can preview books before I buy them, which is an amazing feature to have.
Kindle 2.0 also comes with a Read To Me feature, using the Text-to-Speech technology. I was expecting a very mechanical and dull voice to come though when I turned the feature on, but I was pleasantly surprised at how clear and crisp the voice was. It's certainly handy when you're driving or are unable to view the screen for whatever reason.
