Whether in the form of portrait to landscape (and vice versa). Auto-Rotating Screen feature can also be found on smart phones output Apple, iPhone.

Capacity provided to Kindle DX big enough, that is 4 GB. The capacity of this magnitude can store approximately 3500 books as much fruit. Amazon Kindle Vs iPad

E-Books have seen a surge in popularity in just a couple of years that other items take decades to achieve. Amazon was the first company that realized the importance of EBooks and introduced Kindle. They succeeded in tapping the potential of electronic books and now sell in millions. The popularity of Kindle prompted other players in the market to come up with their own versions of EBook readers but none of them have been able to beat the competition except for Apple.

Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle have emerged as the two main competitors in the EBook market. Amazon Kindle comes with the option of having up to 1,500 EBooks uploaded onto its interface and you can read them on the go. It has E-ink display, dense pixilation, reflective screen, highlighting and bookmaking and dictionary, among other specifications. Despite all these functions, it is just an EBook reader. It does not have any other features.

Apple iPad on the other hand is a complete computer on the go. You can add up to 64 GB of books on its i-Book format and read as many titles as you want. You can use highlighting, bookmarks, focus and dense pixilation and other features on this device as well. Apart from that, you can also watch your favorite movies, connect to the internet, and make word documents and conference with your business partners. It is a computer and not just an EBook reader.

Given the usability of iPad most people have started preferring it over Amazon Kindle. There is however an edge of Kindle over iPad. Amazon is the largest book seller and it offers great discounts for Kindle books. Those who have a profound interest in reading find it more suitable to buy Kindle as they are able to read all of their favorite titles without spending much.

Amazon Kindle DX - 3 Reasons You Should Get It

There are so many reasons why one should purchase the Amazon Kindle DX, but all that anyone really needs is perhaps 3 really good reasons to do so. Here are three really great reasons for purchasing this e-book reader versus any others which may be currently available today:

1) The Amazon Kindle DX is lightweight and very portable. It can hold up to 3,500 e-books, magazines and newspapers in one small and easy to operate device; try carrying around that many printed books everywhere that you go.

2) The device is completely wireless and never needs to be connected to a personal computer. It features the integrated "whispernet" technology which allows you access to the World Wide Web to download new books, magazines and even to gain access to blogs and the all-important site, Wikipedia. It is perfect for anyone who is studying.

3) The price is right when you factor in all of the included features of the unit which includes a patented viewing screen that will automatically rotate when the device is; and mimics the look of actual paper. It can handle PDF files natively and can even play MP3 and AAC audio files. It allows you to view your photographs and can even read a book to you.

It really is amazing just how much stuff can actually be packed into such a small device. So while you are out shopping for that perfect e-book reader, then look no further then the amazing little Amazon Kindle DX, the epitome of e-book readers currently available on the market today. While you could always opt for something a little bit cheaper, you will be losing many of the great benefits which can only be found built into the Kindle standard as basic features which makes this particular device the must-have item on anyone's list this year.

Is Amazon Already Testing Its New Kindle Smartphone?

Rumors have been swirling that a new Kindle smartphone could be on the horizon. Unfortunately, there haven't been any official announcements from Amazon yet.

Rumors about a Kindle smartphone first appeared last week when it was discovered that Amazon was collecting smartphone-related patents. Most tech experts suspected, from the evidence given, that a Kindle smartphone was in the early stages of development.

However, a recent report has suggested that the Kindle smartphone is much farther along in the development cycle than a lot of people anticipated. In fact, the company might be ready to start testing the phone this week. These rumors come from the Wall Street Journal, which is a pretty reputable source as far as tech industry news is concerned.

The WSJ report can be found on their site but it basically states that Amazon is about to start testing the device this week, if it hasn't starting testing them already. Mass production of a Kindle smartphone could begin later this year. Some predict the phone could arrive in time for the holiday season, while others think we'll have to wait for early 2013 to get our hands on the so-called 'Kindle Phone'.

When it comes to Kindle Phone specifications, the rumors get a lot vaguer. Some people say the screen is between 4 and 5 inches, but nobody is really sure. Any information about the processor and other hardware specifics is currently unknown.

If Amazon does enter the smartphone market, it will do so at a time where it faces stiff competition. Apple's iPhone 5 is currently in development and it could be released just before the Kindle Phone, undermining smartphone users who were just looking to upgrade.

Standing out from the crowded smartphone market could be difficult for Amazon. But if they can replicate the success of the Kindle - and bring their cheaper, more accessible online store to the world of smartphones - then their flagship phone will certainly have a fighting chance.

I find the idea of a Kindle smartphone intriguing. It seems like it could be a great win for Amazon, as they continue to try to compete with Apple in the tech space. To me their next step would be some sort of laptop; that way you could actually have a seamless integration across platforms like you can have with Apple. Lots of folks have an iPhone, iPad, and MacBook - why not a Kindle phone, Kindle Fire, and Amazon laptop?

Every Aspiring Author Should Be Thinking Amazon Kindle and E-Books

E-books have been around for over a decade but until recently, they hadn't contributed much in the way of book sales. This all changed when Amazon, the world's largest book seller, released a proprietary e-book reader called the 'Kindle' in November of 2007. Since then, things have turned 180 degrees for the struggling e-book market.

Authors, especially unknown, self published authors are the ones who have most benefited from this emerging market...and for good reason. Because Amazon owns the Kindle, they constantly need new books to include in the Kindle library. All an author has to do to take advantage of this is to produce his book in the Kindle format. A paperback version would compliment it, but it isn't necessary. Amazon distributes both.

Notice I said, distributes, not publish. Publishing and distribution are two completely different things. You can sell your book without a publisher. In most cases, 'you' will be listed as the publisher. But it's hard to sell books without someone to distribute them. This is where Amazon shines. After all...that's what they built their business on, selling books.

Distribution is the main problem new authors face. They have no way to get their books in front of potential buyers. Sure, they can sell them on their website and maybe through some local bookstores, but neither of these channels usually have much selling power. Getting a book into major brick and mortar bookstores is nearly impossible without an established publisher.

By making your book available for Amazon's Kindle, it can be seen by millions of potential buyers and for virtually nothing. Remember, if people can't find your book, they can't buy it. By having it on Amazon, people will find it.

Converting your book into Amazon's format can be a little tricky, but with the right help, it shouldn't be much of a problem. Your book can be uploaded to Amazon's DTP (digital text platform) directly from your computer. If you've written it in Word, you can save it as an HTML file and the DTP will perform the conversion in a minute or two.

There are several steps to consider along the way though. You'll need to know how to strip out the extra control codes that Word inserts into your file. You'll need to know about copyrights, ISBN numbers, setting up your Amazon account, business license, direct deposits, title pages, author credits, and a few other things that though they're not mandatory, they are still worth knowing about.

Most aspiring authors think that they're going to have to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars to get their book out in the market place. That's just not so...if you know how to do it. The bottom line is...you can get your book online and for sale in Amazon's store for nothing.

Amazon isn't the only player in the e-book arena. Sony, Apple, Barnes & Nobel, and several others are getting into it too. Just under 2 million E-book readers were sold last year. In 2010, this is projected to jump to between 7 and 8 million, and the trend is expected to continue.

If you've ever thought about writing a book, you couldn't have picked a better time. It's hard to go wrong when you can get it into the world's biggest book store, for nothing.

The best way to get detailed information on how to get your book into Amazon's bookstore is to log onto Amazon and type, "how to publish kindle" into their search engine. Several pages of 'how-to' books will come up. The most useful books will be those listed first. Look for the least expensive with at least a (3) star rating and you'll be good to go.

Here's the icing on the cake. Since its inception, Amazon authors have been getting a royalty of 35% of the retail selling price for each Kindle book Amazon sells. As of June 30th, 2010, this royalty will be 'doubled' to 70%. That's a 100% raise!

This is an exciting time to be a new author. Never in the history of writing could an author get a book in front of millions of readers so easily, if at all! As e-book readers drop in price, e-book sales will grow exponentially. If you've written a book but never thought you could get it to market, think again. With Amazon, the Kindle, and little knowledge of how to do it, the next time someone asks, "What do you do for a living?" You can tell them, "I'm an author!"

How To Make Your Amazon Book Rank Soar With Free Book Hashtags and Kindle Select

Many readers and authors would laugh if I announced, "My book has broken into the Top 80,000 best-selling books at Amazon.com." Yet that's what I did. I also updated that announcement three weeks later when my book fell to 278,000 and then broke into the Top 10,000. You see, my ranking began at 950,000 - and I like progress.

Read on if you care to learn why these rankings matter for indie fiction and non-fiction authors, as well as business people who know they have a book (or article) in them but are too busy to take the leap.

The Amazon Kindle Select program fueled my rise (and fall and then rise). As a member I am allowed five giveaway days every three months. This promotion tool allows an author of articles and books to get some much-needed attention - if the author does some simple promotion.

You may wonder, why give away a book for free? Free is the new windfall. By sharing your article or book for free, you have the potential to achieve significant downloads. If you do this well, the Amazon system will be very pleased and begin improving your book ranking - even though no actual sales have occurred. Yet sales eventually will occur. More on that later.

In June of 2012, my first free day netted 209 downloads. I was thrilled because a writing colleague had told me that even 100 downloads can be significant.

In July of 2012 my second free day netted 5,376 downloads. I was stunned. My ranking soared from about 275,000 to as low as 9,950. How did it happen? I'll tell you. But first...

Think about it. You are a new author, or you have a new business or acting or singing career and you need a boost. You create a Kindle Select article - a fairly short piece - or short book. It must be...

fun to read
informative
biographical and/or insightful.

But it can also include contact info and promotions for your product, service or expertise. How do 5,376 new fans sound?

HOW TO MANAGE A FREE DAY W/ KINDLE SELECT

As of July 3, 2012 my Amazon ranking for my new title is about 17,000. I guarantee my rank will continue to drop, until I can generate more sales and promote another free day. And yet for a couple days I was ranked in the Top 100 in three categories.

If you can get Amazon to pay attention - "Attention must be paid," said the wife of Willy Loman in Arthur Miller's classic play "Death of a Salesman" - you will be rewarded.

When I planned my second free day, I knew I would need help. This is how I got it.

First, I found a list of blogs that announce free Kindle books. Some are free, others charge a small fee.

My Twitter following was only about 500, so I hired Book Tweeting Service. For a modest fee, three days before my free Kindle Select day they began to Tweet promos that I wrote - with their help - that included links to Amazon, of course, and hashtags, such as #FREE #BOOK and #Kindle, etc.

I also purchased a "free alert" from Orangeberry Virtual Book Tours. They Tweeted my message all day long. Dedication is worth paying for.

I re-tweeted (RT) all the above Tweets as I saw them, and added replies and thank yous with my link.

I remained engaged online from 7 AM to 10 PM on the free day, with breaks, of course, and created new tweets as needed, which BTS and Orangeberry kindly RT'd.

Also, since I could tell I was doing fairly well in the United Kingdom, as their 24-hour free day was coming to a close, I featured tweets that reminded those readers to "get it quick." Afterwards, I concentrated only on the United States.

How much did all the help cost? $180.98. In the hours following the free day, a trickle of sales -- readers who missed the free day? -- quickly returned $54. More sales will follow, so the outlay is a no-brainer.

MORE TIPS FOR KINDLE EBOOK RANK

Since I created the short links for my Tweets at bit.ly, that site's statistics told me which link was most popular. Naturally, I kept pushing that link.

Also, the music theme of my book provided an obvious audience. So before the free Kindle Select day, I grew my Twitter account by engaging that niche and a couple others. In short, authors must define their audience - and then engage them.

By the way, throughout the day I met some wonderful people who showed an interest in my project, so I was more than happy to RT their announcements and ideas. A sense of community and sharing developed, and it was very nice. I don't care to compete with other writers. It is better to encourage them.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you need to inform book lovers of their options. For example, I wrote blog posts that revealed a Kindle device is not needed to get a free copy of a Kindle ebook: Just download free Kindle software. In the posts, I advised readers to Google "Free Kindle" for apps and other information. And I provided links for PC and Mac users. Make it easy.

But what about sales? Some authors merely post their book and it takes off. Why? I don't know. Karma? Or maybe their book falls into a very clear genre. Millions of others get nowhere, and this is particularly true of non-genre fiction. Suffice it to say, if you want your beautiful book or article to get some attention, you must get in front of it and promote! Don't be shy.

Kindle Select free days - if well managed - can get you some attention. As you improve your rank, Amazon begins including your title in simple promotions with other titles. This adds fuel to the fire. But...

As I said before, my rank will drop until I find new ways of engaging my readers and audience. The ups and downs are like an ocean tide: forward movement, retreat; forward movement... and so on. In other words, marketing never stops.

But that's okay, because wishing and hoping rarely works. And it is exciting to your book rise and shine.

Amazon Kindle 3 DX Vs Nook Ereader - Is It The Mission Impossible?

The two main rivals in the eBook reader market makes for a healthy slugfest with features that are now fairly common in both with just a few competitive edges here and there to distinguish the two. It's really between Amazon's 3rd generation Kindle DX vs Nook reader from Barnes & Noble - a natural product rivalry with Amazon staring out as the world's first online bookstore beating the world's largest traditional bookstore Barnes & Noble to cyberspace leadership.

But as they say, it's often just a matter of time for the competition to gain parity and keep up. Barnes & Noble did that with its online presence and with and strong answer to Amazon's e-reader, though 2 years late. But Kindle remains the clear market leader with the Nook threatening its position.

It can be difficult choosing between the latest generation these two readers, both enjoying decidedly a growing market following with the Kindle having the edge. And if you don't have your priorities spelled out, the decision can be a bit agonizing. But if you do, it can be easy.

While both readers sport the same e-paper display technology, the Barnes & Noble reader has a 3.5-inch color LCD display contiguous with it under the e-display for navigating through content. That can be an edge if you've been used to touchscreen smartphones. But if you like QWERTY keyboard on your smartphone, the KindleDX has to be your choice.

Screen display area looks deceptively similar but the Nook3G takes up the lower bottom with the touchscreen LCD leaving only a page display of 600 x 800 resolution while that on the Kindle-DX offers a larger 825 x 1200 resolution. If you want a larger page display, the choice is clear.

Weight can be a deciding factor. The 18.9 oz from Amazon is sure to tire your wrist holding it up to read much earlier that will the 12.1 oz from B&N.

The one made edge of the Amazon eBook reader is its Text-to-Speech feature which allows the book to be read out loud. While it makes reading a listening chore, the feature has its practical advantage as it allows you to do some emergencies without missing a beat on what you're reading. It's also a helpful feature for kids learning to pronounce words, foreigner learning the language and even the blind getting book content. That's what you won't get in the contender.

Amazon's Store boasts a library of 725,000 books. B&N has thrice that number. So if the wealth of titles is a priority to you, the world's largest bookstore can't disappoint and the Nook takes advantage of that.

The DX only has 3G connectivity while the Nook-3G has it plus WiFi. Both offer their data connectivity free with the Amazon's Whispernet and the AT&T network. This feature may not matter to people who don't bother with hotspots.

While the Kindle-DX has twice the onboard memory at 4GB, the Nook has microSD support for up to 16GB. If the 3,500 eBook titles that can be stored on the Kindle DX won't be enough for you, then the Nook has to be your choice.

Next, go to my Amazon Kindle DX blog and you will find the complete review and you will also get tips about how to find the best deals right now. There is also more information about the Nook reader.

If you find the smaller version of Kindle more attractive you should check out Kindle 3G Ebook Reader.

Review of The Amazon Kindle 3G

The new Kindle is said to be one of the best reading gadgets on the market.

Some of the major benefits of this great new gadget are: built-in Wi-Fi, turns pages faster, no glare, smaller and lighter, weighs only 8.7 ounces, can hold up to 3,500 books, downloads books in 60 seconds, better contrast, darker fonts, dictionary lookup and free 3G wireless.

Even better, the new Kindle can hold a charge up to 30 days with the wireless function off, with wireless on the Kindle will hold it's charge up to 10 days.

It's small design still with a 6" screen allows you to hold it comfortably for as long as you would like to read. The Kindle is lighter than most paperbacks and thinner than a magazine. The page turners are located on the left and right side for easy turning no matter which hand you prefer to use. The soft back cover makes it easier to hold for comfort and does not generate heat.

You can choose from a selection of over 750,000 books as well as audio books, and periodicals. There are over 610,000 books that are available to download for less than $9.99. You also have the ability to download and read the first chapter of a book before you buy the book. This is great, you might read the first chapter and have no interest in the book.

In the near future you will be able to share your books with other Kindle users for up to 14 days. Any books you purchase from the Kindle Store are stored in your Kindle library and can be wirelessly downloaded again for free at anytime. You can categorize your books by Author, category or your favorite book collection.

If you are thinking of getting an e-reader, the new Kindle is the way to go. There is no wireless setup with the new kindle, some others require a wireless setup, the free 3G connection uses the wireless signal that cell phones use with no fees attached. There is no set-up, software or computer needed to use the Kindle, simply open the box and read. It can't get any easier then that.

It is a great gadget to have while traveling as it does not require a Wi-Fi hot spot to download books and has wireless coverage almost everywhere you travel.

This new Kindle is definitely the way to go.

Finally, the Kindle makes a great gift. Another great gift idea are Sterling Silver number charms. Whether Gold, silver or even brass, number charms are a great idea for most anyone.

The Amazon Kindle 3G Vs the Barnes & Noble Nook - Who Will Win the Holiday Shopping War?

If you have been considering an e-book reader for yourself or as a gift, the choice between the Amazon Kindle 3G with Wi-Fi and the Barnes & Noble Nook will be a tough one. The reviews show that both products are terrific e-Readers but it is the differences and your personal preferences that will make your decision. Priced at $189 for the Kindle 3G and $199 for the Nook your decision will be based on your choice of features.

Both units have 6 inch diagonal E-Ink electronic displays, with 600 x 800 pixel resolution. The weights are comparable, the Kindle at 10.2 ounces and the Nook at 12.1 ounce. And the actual unit sizes are 8″ x 5.3 for the Kindle and 7.7″ x 4.9 for the Nook. Both have an internal memory of 2GB but the Nook has an expandable micro SD slot which would only be necessary if you think you need to store more than the 1,500 books that the 2GB will hold.

Battery life is also similar, 10 days or 7,500 page turns, with the wireless off. And both completely recharge between 3.5 and 4 hours. Both units can be used as an MP3 player, the Kindle with built in stereo speakers and the Nook with built-in mono speakers. Both also have headphone jacks.

Here is where your preferences will make the difference. The Amazon Kindle has a keyboard at the bottom, it does not display in color but has a 16-level gray-scale that does a great job with images. The Barnes & Noble Nook has a color touch screen at the bottom. So do you prefer typing on a keyboard or touch screen?

And here is the big one - the Kindle 3G with Wi-Fi uses Amazon's Whispernet through Sprint's 3G high-speed data network for U.S. wireless coverage. No charge involved. And there is expanded coverage available if you are traveling internationally. The Nook has free wireless via AT&T, and free Wi-Fi in all Barnes & Noble stores. If you intend on down loading books while traveling service from these providers would have to be available.

The Kindle has an additional feature, Text-to-Speech. You can switch from reading a book to listening to it with the audio book reader. You can enlarge the print with both units. The Kindle's screen is less reflective than the other e-book readers which eliminates the problems that reading off a screen in the sunshine can create. The Nook's screen is ranked better than most of the competitors but not better than the Kindle. Where will you be reading?

So here we are. What are your preferences? What type of keyboard, and whose wireless carrier do you prefer. Both the Kindle 3G and the Nook e-Book readers have great reviews and thousands of books available. Good luck with your choices and happy shopping.

10 Simple Steps To Self-Publishing Your Amazon Kindle E-Book

The Kindle is increasing in popularity every day and this is driving a huge demand for Amazons e-book reader. After only a short time the huge demand is making it extremely difficult for Amazon.com to keep up with the high number of daily orders. Whether you simply write in your spare time or as a full-time income, you can take advantage of this craze and monetize the ever-growing popularity of the Amazon Kindle by self-publishing your own e-book. Here are the key steps to self-publishing your own e-book and selling it quickly on the most popular online platform of its' kind: Amazon.com.

Step One: Creating An E-book Outline

This is the most important part of your Amazon Kindle e-book; you must choose a niche. This is a perfect time to decide exactly what type of e-book you'd like to self-publish. Maybe you wish to write about romance, possibly an easy how-to guide, or even horror... Whichever niche you select, start by creating an outline. Creating an outline will not only help you gather your thoughts, but will assist you in ensuring that you cover the topic chosen in a methodical and in-depth manner.

Step Two: Start Writing

Once you're ready to write your Amazon Kindle e-book, it's time to reference your outline. Having your outline nearby, you're able to write your e-book quickly and easily, while avoiding the plague experienced by most writers: writers' block. Be sure to also use a popular word processor, such as Microsoft Word, which provides excellent language, spelling, and grammar tools that you can easily use to "comb" through your e-book from the introduction to the conclusion. Although most e-book writers tend to focus on length, just cover the necessary points and elements of your topic. Length isn't important. However, never fill you e-books with "fluff"! Your reader's aren't looking for "fluff" or "filler" within your e-book, but rather solutions to their problems and desires.

Step Three: Proofreading

Microsoft Word, although effective, is not 100% guaranteed, and therefore it is imperative to seek the assistance of a third-party, such as an acquaintance, family member, or even a relative to review and evaluate your e-book for possible errors. Better an acquaintance locate an error early, than a customer, or worse yet, Amazon.com! So remember, always proofread your content prior to submission.

Step Four: Setup Your Free Account

In order to list your e-book for sell on the Amazon.com platform, you must create an account. Don't worry. It's absolutely free of cost. Simply visit https://dtp.amazon.com/ on your favorite internet browser and follow the simple instructions; however, if you already have an account with Amazon.com, feel free to simply use the account you already have.

Step Five: Self-Publish Your Amazon Kindle E-book

By going to the bottom of the page mentioned above and selecting the "Self-Publish With Us", you will gain immediate access to the Amazon Kindle section for authors wishing to self-publish their very own e-books.

Step Six: Proceed To Your Amazon Kindle Dashboard

Once you've successfully accessed your Amazon Kindle dashboard, just select the "Add A New Item" link, and you are well on your way to self-publishing your very own Amazon Kindle e-book (you will only be able to access this dashboard after logging-in to your account, so be sure to do so before completing this step).

Step Seven: Tell Amazon.com About Your New E-book

At this step in the process, Amazon.com will need additional information about your e-book prior to submission. Simply complete the form by providing the title of your Amazon Kindle e-book, your name, and a descriptive summary of exactly what your e-book is all about. The summary of your e-book is the most important part! Give as much detail as you can, seeing as this will be viewable by potential customers, and it is also a prime opportunity to "sell your e-book" with your words. So, take your time and word your summary correctly and accurately.

Step Eight: Submit Your Amazon Kindle E-book

Simply submit your new Kindle e-book to the Amazon.com platform. By locating the chosen file of your e-book on your computer, you can easily select it, submit it to Amazon.com, and it will be easily transformed into digital text, which is the preferred format for Amazon Kindle e-books.

Step Nine: Review Your E-book And Correct Any Mistakes

You can easily skip this step, but skipping isn't wise! Take a few brief minutes after submitting your content to check for possible formatting errors. Although formatting errors are rare, they could become apparent. Therefore it's important to preview your content in the digital text format and fix any formatting issues that may have transpired during file conversion.

Step Ten: How Much Would You Like To Sell Your E-book For?

This is the fun part! You get to actually set the price for your Amazon Kindle e-book. Just use your own discretion, but remember that Kindle e-books with less content often sell for less. Although your niche market will obviously expect to pay a little less for your e-book since you're brand new, don't undersell yourself. At the same time, don't oversell either. Just evaluate your market in comparison to your experience and set a fair price. Remember, the objective isn't to make a million dollars "out of the gate", but rather to gain loyal customers that you can sell to over and over again.

Well, from these quick ten steps, you can see just how easy it is to self-publish your own Amazon Kindle e-book. It's easy to do, but it's even easier to make money from. After you've completed the ten steps above, you can either wait for the sales to "roll-in", or you can be proactive and actively market and advertise your Amazon sales page by driving traffic to it. Regardless of the method you choose for promotion, if you write for fun or for money, you can easily take advantage of the popularity of the Amazon Kindle platform, all while making a handsome profit at the same time!

Will the Amazon Kindle Be a Success?

In 2001 Apple launched the iPod. Why bother, everyone said, there were already hundreds of different digital music players at the time and most people dismissed the idea out of hand. Three hundred and ninety-nine dollars for a music player? Too expensive. No FM radio or a microphone. It will never catch on. Well, as we know now, it turns out they were wrong on all counts - and how. Apple shares were $9.51 the day before the launch - today they are around $160. But enough of the history lesson. Here are five reasons why the Kindle is the next must-have gadget akin to the iPod or PSP.

1. It actually addresses a real problem

Who needs to carry 80 books around with them? Well, I don't, and I'm sure most of you don't either. What about a thousand - now you're just being silly! Sony's failed e-book reader boasted enough memory to carry around a small, or even medium sized library. Great if you're a professor who needs to reference his life work while on the move, but just a bit over the top for most of us. Me, well I just want to read one book at a time. Still, that doesn't mean to say that when I finish my book I always go to sleep - sometimes I want to read another. Sometimes I'm in the mood for something different to the book I just finished. Sometimes it was even so good that I want to read something else by the same author. Well, Kindle is the first ebook reader with its own cellular wireless connection that lets you get new books anytime, almost anywhere whenever you like. It's not wifi so you don't need to find hot spots - it's like a cell phone. Magazines and newspapers - no problem, your digital paperboy will deliver them fresh to your (digital) doorstep in an instant.

2. It has a ready made library of good quality cheap material

Any new gadget will ultimately fail or succeed on the fuel that drives it - content! Well, with Amazon throwing its weight firmly behind the Kindle, you needn't worry about the availablility of material. Until now, some ebook readers have failed miserably in this vital aspect with narrow choices of material, and downloads often costing more than their traditional paperback equivalents. Kindle scores on price - most of its material costs around 10 bucks and many are less - this is cheaper than a normal book. Wait, I hear you cry, but the cellular wireless connection must cost a fortune. Nope - its included in the price of the device and the downloads. Sp, what about periodicals? Big savings are to be had here as well as publishers throw themselves onto the digital bandwagon. A year of the Wall Street Journal in print is $249 versus $9.99 a month ($120 a year) via Kindle - and you can still read it in the loo!

Getting your own documents onto the Kindle can be done via email but this does, admittedly incur an extra charge, although it is just 10 cents a go. The email service supports several formats of open-source books as well as Microsoft Word and text-based, the only real omission that I would like to have seen included is PDF support. No doubt this will be forthcoming, and there are workarounds available in any case

3. Jeff Bezos is a proven visionary

Ok, its not a rock solid guarantee of success bit just look at the guys track record. First he built his online superstore beating out thousands of more established competitors - anyone not heard of Amazon here - I thought so. Amazon.com got so many things right, including the important focus on reader reviews, cheap shipping and giant selection. I'd put my money on him to make this to a success.

4. Its smart and well designed

As I've pointed out its packed with gadgets like free wireless cell connection a real keyboard to let you search in a book or document, page turning buttons on both sides of the screen - Ned Flanders will definitely be stocking these in the Leftorium. But another major decision will also help Kindle take off. It's not hanging off your computer. You don't need to sync it with a computer. Purchases are backed up online by Amazon so you can delete and recover any book you bought. Basically, it does everything it was designed to do in a simple elegant manner - remind anyone of a certain MP3 player?

5. It's cool

There are potentially millions of consumers who will buy Kindle for this very reason. Just like PSP's, IPods and IPhones before it - the take up of the next cool gadget is normally a huge success if the distributors get it right, and when it come to product distribution Amazon rarely fail. If you still don't believe me, go and watch the video on my website. This is a nifty gizmo that elegantly solves real problems for consumers.

Amazon Kindle Self-Publishing: 5 Quick Tips For Writing A Kindle E-Book

Amazon.com offers multiple ways to earn money via their online platform, such as the Amazon affiliate and associates programs, but no one method has become more popular than Amazon Kindle self-publishing. Writing Amazon Kindle e-books is not only profitable, but can be extremely easy by implementing a few easy tips. Through these guidelines, such as creating an outline, not limiting your writing potential, not adding "fluff", proofreading your e-book before submission, and even adding a brief table of contents, writing an Amazon Kindle e-book will not only prove to be simple, but highly profitable. This brief article aims to cover these five tips and get you into profit quickly with Amazon Kindle self-publishing.

Create An outline Of Your E-book

Before you write one single page of your e-book, be sure to write an outline. Seeing as writing an e-book can be extremely challenging an intimidating to new writers, creating an outline allows you to break-up your e-book into small sections, rather than approaching the writing of your e-book all at one time. Many writers often compare themselves to popular Amazon Kindle e-book sellers and fall under the impression that their e-book must contain hundreds of pages in order to be successful. This couldn't be further from the truth; a majority of highly popular e-books are less than 50 pages, but no matter how long or short, they all began with a simple outline, created by the author, which was written one page at a time! While it is important to remember to create an outline, it's also important to not limit your writing potential.

Don't Limit Your Writing Potential

Don't limit your writing potential when considering Amazon Kindle self-publishing. What would you like to write about? Romance, how to make money, politics, or maybe home improvement? Well, it's your e-book and the possibilities are endless! Why not self-publish e-books within multiple categories? Keep in mind that the more e-books you self-publish, the easier and more frequently you will make money, so feel free to let your creativity flow. You are free to write on any topic until your heart is content, but never ever add "fluff" to your e-books!

Please, Don't Add "Fluff"

Never add unnecessary content, ramblings, or jut plain "fluff" to your e-books. Don't get entangled in the trap that usually defeats most self-publishers, which is thinking that every e-book you write has to be 500 pages long or it just won't sell. This couldn't be further from the truth. Just pick your topic and start writing, and if you're able to convey your point in 50 pages, then that will suffice, but never add "fluff" just to fill pages. Your readers won't appreciate it and it's definitely not going to help you make more sales, seeing as online reviews and word of mouth spread fast! Worst case scenario, just lower the price of your e-book to compensate for less content. Although "fluff" is often a snare of many Amazon Kindle self-publishers, failure to proofread has also proven to be detrimental.

Always Proofread Before Submitting

Always proofread your e-book before you submission. There's nothing worse than having errors brought to your attention that could have easily been fixed with a basic word processor, such as Microsoft Word. Microsoft Word easily catches most grammar, spelling, and language mistakes, however it isn't 100% full proof, so be sure to read over your e-book with a watchful eye at least 2-3 times prior to converting it to an Amazon Kindle e-book. Finally, be sure to include a table of contents.

Be Sure To Add A Table Of Contents

Regardless of whether you're self-publishing a fiction or non-fiction e-book, always include a table of contents after your cover to guide your readers while reading your materials. Simply add the name of each chapter, along with the page it begins on, and your readers will easily be able to navigate to their favorite chapters or even return to a particular chapter or page they've yet to finish reading.

Self-publishing can be extremely profitable, and Amazon.com provides a perfect platform to publish and distribute your next e-book. By simply taking action and practicing a few simple tips, such as creating an outline, not limiting your writing potential, not adding "fluff", proofreading your e-book before submission, and even adding a brief table of contents, writing an Amazon Kindle e-book is not only simple, but highly profitable!

Amazon Kindle Self-Publishing: Publishing Your First Amazon Kindle E-Book

Amazon Kindle is the newest trend in online sales, and everybody's doing it... Why aren't you? Maybe you've become distracted or just detoured by what you feel to be a lack of "technical know-how", but rest assured, anyone can publish their own e-book through Kindle self-publishing by simply writing their e-book, creating a cover image, and choosing a royalty option. It's just that easy. Don't believe me? Keep reading.

Keys To Writing Your E-book

For many, writing the e-book itself may be the most daunting challenge, but once it's completed, everything else is a breeze. When writing your e-book, keep in mind that your e-book must be formatted appropriately in order to be accepted by Amazon. Amazon Kindle eReader does permit most DOC files for electronic book conversion, however, using a basic word processor such as Microsoft Word or Open Office is recommended.

Amazon Kindle eReader allows most DOC files to be used for electronic book conversion, however,.doc files that possess complicated formatting may not function properly or may simply fail to upload all together. So if at all possible, try to use.doc files such as Word documents or Open office docs instead of.docx or portable document files. Using bold and italic formatting within your e-book is fine, but anything beyond that, which is more complex, such as bullet points, is simply not compatible with the Amazon Kindle eReader. Are you familiar with the saying, "A picture's worth a thousand words"? Pictures within your e-book are a must. Just be sure that you actually own the copyright, of course. All images should be used as.jpg files, and centered. However, if you attempt to wrap images around text, it may look good on your personal PC screen, but seeing as your content will be viewed on mobile devices, it will look completely different to your viewers. So when formatting your e-book, please keep these suggestions in mind.

After you've gotten the writing of your e-book squared away, it's time to create some catchy headline title pages, as well as acknowledgment pages. If you wish, you can insert a page break anywhere within your e-book that you feel a hard page break should be, and it will of course show within the final of your Amazon Kindle e-book. Many of you may find the technical aspects of word-processing difficult or time-consuming, and in this case, it's better to simply outsource this portion of the e-book creation to a qualified professional that can help you get the "look and feel" you desire.

Once you've got the "look and feel" you desire, just convert it to one of the accepted Amazon Kindle formats mentioned above, and then it's "off" to create the most coveted portion of your e-book: the cover.

Creative E-book Cover Designs

In this business first impressions count. You've only got one shot to "catch the eye" of your visitors, so you better make it count! Most e-book creators simply fail to take the time required to create quality e-book covers, and it shows not only through the visuals, but more importantly through their lack of sales. There are thousands of other e-books on Amazon, so be sure to make your "title" and "image" pop. Ready to get paid? Let's talk royalties...

Getting Paid & Royalties

OK. Concerning royalty options, you've got two choices: 35% or 70%, minus delivery charges. In order to select the 70% royalty option, your e-book must fall within the $2.99 and $9.99 price range. Your e-book must also not contain any public domain information and have a Kindle selling price equal to or less than the selling price of any hardback/physical book currently available for sale within your same niche. By making these requirements, Amazon ensures that e-books aren't overpriced and don't cost more than normal hardback books would. That makes sense right? Of course it does.

Well, now you know the necessary components to sell your first Amazon Kindle e-book successfully. What are you waiting for? Amazon Kindle is the newest trend in online sales, and everybody's doing it... Now you can too! Anyone can publish their own e-book through Kindle self-publishing by simply writing their book, creating a cover image, and choosing a royalty option. It's just that easy!

Amazon Kindle 3 Review: Head to Head Against the Nook and iPad

Kindle 3, a tasteful evolution to the most popular e-book reader, and now it fits in your stocking. The redesign of the Kindle adds a stylish new graphite finish. Meaning it no longer looks like a comically large second generation iPod had a bastard child with a PDF reader. It features a new 6.5″ E-Ink display with 50% better contrast than the Kindle 2. Images are crisp and sharp, blacks are deep and rich. At the same time it had a 15% reduction in size, and a 21% reduction in weight at only 8.7 oz. Page turn is now 20% faster although still a little laggy. A new rubbery finish was added to the back, which really lends itself to one-handed reading, and keeps your palms from sweating.

Although the redesign is far from revolutionary, it has some notable physical changes, besides proportions and color. The top row of numbers has been removed, and transferred to the symbol menu. The directional rocker now lays nearly flush with the body. Which may be a disadvantage to users with larger, sausage like fingers. A new sliding power button, volume buttons, micro usb port, and headphone jack were relocated to the bottom of the device. The headphones hag more comfortably. The side buttons used to turn pages have been flattered, and moved to the sides. Some people complain they are now easier to miss if you're buried in your book. I, personally, find them incredibly natural, and they make a satisfying nearly inaudible click when pressed. Advantageous if you're reading in bed while your partner is sleeping.

They've also doubled the storage space to 4GB, roughly 3,500 books, and doubled the battery life to 4 weeks (without WiFi disabled.) Just as the past model boast free 3G coverage so does this one but the $189 model also has WiFi capabilities. Including but not limited to transferring Audible audio books without the use of a computer. This leads me to the experimental features which are secondary not necessary.

Have you ever wondered what the interweb would look like as a silent film? Wonder no more sweet citizen! The Webkit delivers the internet in glorious (hilarious) gray-scale. Kindle 3′s browser, (as lackluster as it may seem) is a massive improvement on the previous generations. Full page view, now with photos! and page load speeds comparable to any smart phone. Article mode, which is supposed to change articles into text only format, leaves a lot to be desired. We've encountered no instance where it does anything significant at all, let along improve readability. It mainly just causes issues with margins and leads to a lot of scrolling. The new webkit can however zoom, display sites in actual size, or fit to device.

Although it doesn't support EPUB,(booooo) because of DRM issues, it does however support PDF with a cursor for highlighting text, and 6 new contrast options. You can also email PDF's directly to your kindle, and download them via WiFi.

Other new features include a microphone, download monitoring, full screen mode, 2 dictionaries, The Oxford Dictionary of English, and The New Oxford American Dictionary. Also Alt-Del combination for clearing text.

What We Like;

+ Light and thin ( highly portable)

+ Bright crisp display

+ Price $139, $189

+ 450,000 titles (30,000 are public domain)

+ Readable in direct sunlight

+ Archive, collections, create notes & bookmarks, as well as clipping articles

+ Callibre application to convert books to Kindle-friendly

+ Quality options such as text-size, type face, etc

+ Incredibly simple interface

+ Whispernet(over 100+ countries

+ Battery life!

What We Dislike (Or would've liked to have seen)

- No color

- No EPUB

- No video support (We wanted B&W youtube)

- Not great for text books or manuals (Sorry engineers)

- Board Games would be nice (Chess or Sudoku)

- Price $189 ( $99 would really make it a must-have)

- No back-lightingRecommended Accessories:

Kindle Lighted Leather Cover, Comes In 7 Colors

$59.99 (A little expensive but completely takes care of the back-lighting issue) available at Amazon.com and most places that sell the Kindle.

The Competition:

The Nook - Barnes & Noble $199

How it Outperformed:

+ In-house-support

+ Browsing with full text examples

+ More titles 100,000,000+ (and over 500,000 free)

+ E-Ink visplay LCD color display

+ LendMe- free book rentals for 14 days

+ EPUB, PDB support

+ Virtual keyboard

+ In-store discounts

+ Free wifi from AT&T at Barnes & Noble

+ Replaceable battery

+ MicroSD card slot

+ SonyReader library can be transferred

+ Sudoku and chess

+ Runs on Android

How it Underperformed:

- Smaller display - 3.5″

- Weight 12 oz

- Battery life 10 days (without WIFI)

- 2GB storage

- Price $199

- Screen contrast

- No text-to-speech

- No microphone

- No stereo speakers

- No Audible audio books (only mp3)

- No.txt,.doc,.docx support

- Slow and insensitive touchscreen (basically useless)

- Illogical and nonfunctional interface (Seriously I'm not trying to be mean but it's as if a blind person made it)

- Very buggy

- Horrid page refresh rate

We personally think the Kindle 3 blows the nook away. The aspects in which it performs better are overshadowed by it's faults. Which are distracting and frustrating, not lending to a proper reading experience. Which is the point of an e-book reader right?

The iPad - Apple - $486 $788

How it Outperforms:

+ Larger, color, capacitive touch screen

+ Video support (but no flash bawwwww.:[ Yeah I said it. )

+ iTunes

+ 1 GHz processor (no refresh rate issues here)

+ 16, 32, or 64GB storage

+ Bluetooth

+ Great for magazines and papers, technical manuals, and text books (due to color display)

How it Under-performs:

- Price $458 - $788

- Pay for 3G

- Weight/Size

- Battery life

- Oh you try to read in the sun, I dare you

- No notes, not even on the Kindle app

- Less titles (only 60,000 on iBooks for iPad)

- Books are more expensive

- Distractions while reading (Facebook, Twitter, etc)

I could sit and break down comparisons about who has more storage or a better screen all day. The real issue at hand is what do you want out of it? What do you need the e-reader for. If you want bright, bold, color pages, magazine articles, and YouTube videos. Then cough up the extra money and buy an iPad. If you want color display but don't care that the user interface may or may not have been coded by the mentally disabled. Then pay the extra $10 for the Nook. Barnes and Noble does have a broader selection of books. But if you're like us and you want a hand-held device because you like reading, not the bells and whistles. (Don't get me wrong who doesn't like toys.) Then the Kindle 3 is the cream of the crop, an avid readers dream of their entire library in the palm of their hands, in a package that weighs as much as a single paperback book.

Amazon Kindle Fire - What Are Its Main Features?

The Kindle Fire from Amazon is a small-screen tablet that is much less expensive than the Apple iPad. It can be used for watching movies, playing games, listening to music, browsing the web, reading children's books, novels and magazines, and running different apps. Any content downloaded from Amazon can be stored free of cost using cloud storage space.

This version of Kindle comes with a powerful and fast dual core, 1GHz TI OMAP4 processor that runs Gingerbread, a customized version of the Android OS. It is 7.5" long, 4.7" wide, 0.45" thick and weighs just 14.6 ounces. The color touch-screen has an extra-wide viewing angle.

Priced at $199, the Kindle Fire is pretty frugal on fancy features. It has no cameras, microphones, Bluetooth, GPS or 3G wireless connectivity. It also has only a couple of GBs of internal storage space with no option to expand it. It only has a MicroUSB jack, a headphone jack and dual stereo speakers. But the low price of the Kindle Fire makes these minor issues quite insignificant.

The device is ingeniously designed to make users want to buy products from Amazon. By giving the option to use free Cloud storage for storing content purchased from Amazon, the designers seem to have made a conscious decision to entice users to buy more content from Amazon. At any given point of time, about three to four movies can be stored on the Kindle. The rest of the data can be swapped to the cloud and brought back on demand. By providing only a couple of GBs of onboard storage, Amazon also seems to discourage the storage and use other content on the device.

The Kindle Fire comes with the Silk browser for browsing the Web. The device can play files like MP3, AAC and OGG. When it comes to playing video, it supports MPEG4 and H.264 at a 1080p resolution. While the device cannot be connected to a TV or any HDMI device, it supports any Amazon-compatible set-top box like the TiVo.

The Kindle Fire provides almost 5 hours of battery time while playing back video continuously. A wide range of apps offers additional functionality to the device. The number of apps is bound to explode in the future.

The greatest plus point of the Kindle Fire is it's incredibly attractive price. With a sharp and bright hi-resolution display, the Amazon Kindle Fire is the most affordable small-screen tablet which is also very easy to use, and has the right combination of essential features to make it unbeatable in its class.

Amazon Kindle DX Leather Cover Review

The new leather cover for the Amazon Kindle DX is surprisingly very simple, nothing overdone unlike the previous Kindle covers. The leather cover is nothing fancy on the outside, but dependability wise, it's really more than it seems, and it really fulfills its promise of protecting the Amazon Kindle DX.

This is one of the best things invented and I think that with e-books being published on the internet everyday, a gadget that will read e-books is the most helpful thing.  If you love your Kindle and if you love reading e-books then the jacket is one thing that you should be without.

What I love about the new DX leather cover is the simplicity of the clips and edges designed specifically to offer protection to the Amazon Kindle. It only has a few fastening hinges, all of which are enough to keep the Kindle secure and away from scratch or any kind of tampering.

The thickness of the leather cover, I'll say is to be about average. The thickness will obviously change and you can feel it, especially if you're someone who really appreciate the thinness of the kindle. But at the same time, it also protects very good. I've learned how to adjust to the thickness, since I originally wanted something that's both simple yet very effective anyway.

The outside of the Kindle DX leather cover is just a black rough genuine leather, and the edges are like soft felt. I love that it looks classy and it looks very professional. I love how the Amazon Kindle DX looks with its leather cover on, because it makes it look so much better. But what's the best thing about the Kindle cover? It's very affordable.
