My Kindle Journey: Picking a Reader, Finding Kindle Books

I recently converted from being a strictly traditional reader. I preferred hardcovers to paperbacks, and enjoyed holding a book in my hands. Ever year I would end up donating some books to local charities and schools so that I would have more room for my textual treasures. Then I discovered the Kindle.

The Kindle is a digital book reader. The traditional text inside of a book is displayed on an electronic screen. In other articles, I've discussed how it took me awhile to find the Kindle; overall I tried every other reader and liked the Kindle the best.

Now, how can digital text compare to reading a book? Well, for starters, you can change the text size and font, basically, this let's your tired eyes take a break. I alter the size of the text regularly to find the perfect solution. The Kindle let's me do this.

Most paperbacks I've read have very small print. I've tried the larger print versions, book do not like the size sacrifice. A thick novel is much worse than a regular sized one I cannot read. This is why I've converted over to the Kindle.

Most of my friends are like me, and they do not have a technology degree. In fact, most of them barely know how to use their computers, and like me, this caused some hesitation.

Upon opening my Kindle, the setup was much simpler than I expected. Open the box, take it out, plug it in, and you're good to go. Configuration takes less than five minutes.

Books can be found on the device, although I prefer to read more about them on a normal computer screen. What's even better is that previews are offered for them directly through the publisher. This allows me to read an entire chapter before making a decision.

What's even nicer is putting my Kindle in it's case and walking away with a coffee in the other hand. One Kindle is much less clutter than having my typical book or two, newspaper, and magazine. I even enjoy the scrabble application when no one is looking.

My favorite website for finding Kindle books is [http://booksforkindle.com]

Also, the website that helped convince me to buy a kindle was [http://ukindle.com]

If you're afraid the Kindle is too techy, don't worry about. It was simple and even a non-degreed person could do it.

The Secret to Finding the Perfect Kindle 3 Covers!

The Kindle 3 is also known as the "Kindle with keyboard" or just "Kindle Keyboard". The covers available for this model of Kindle just exploded as the popularity of the Kindle grew amazingly. Here are some details on just two places to look. The secret to finding the perfect Kindle 3 covers is to look at as many places as possible. The right ones will reach out and grab you when you see them.

Amazon, the creators of the Kindle, did their own leather cover with a built-in light for the Kindle 3, which differed from third party covers with a built-in light in that it ran from the Kindle's own battery. The light extends and retracts from the top-right corner of the cover. Extending the light turns it on, while retracting it turns it off. LED technology is used for the light, giving very efficient usage of battery power for good bright light. Some have queried the fact that the LED is not replaceable; however since LEDs have such a long life time, they are likely to outlast both the Kindle and its cover, so replacement is not a problem. Because the light uses the Kindle 3's own internal battery to power it, battery life in the Kindle is reduced when using the light, although users report that since the Kindle has such an amazing battery life to begin with, the battery life with the light is still very acceptable. An interesting bonus is that if the user falls asleep reading, the light turns off when the Kindle goes to sleep, thus saving battery power compared to covers for the Kindle 3 which use separate batteries. This cover is also much lighter (pardon the pun!) than others using separate batteries.

Another place which is definitely worth looking at for Kindle 3 covers is Etsy. Etsy is not a manufacturer or supplier of Kindle 3 covers per se, but a marketplace primarily for handmade products, and has a huge range of covers for all models of Kindle from small suppliers offering their goods through Etsy's website. All the covers seem to be made of fabric, and the range of prints and styles is just enormous. There are literally thousands of them! Would you like leopard skin print? Or flowers? Or animals playing among the toadstools? It's all there, and lots and lots more. Would you like button clasp, tab clasp, velcro clasp or no clasp at all? All there, in carefully handcrafted quality. These covers seriously make a statement about yourself. What if the statement that you would like to make changes from time to time? Then grab more than one! They also make great gifts for family members and friends. Remember that the cover doesn't just have to make a statement about the owner, it can make a statement from you to the receiver of the gift too.

Finding a Kindle Discount

The Kindle eReader is one of the most popular on the market, if not the most popular. Since it was first released the price has come down considerably. Newer versions of the Kindle have become smaller and lighter and now feature a bigger and brighter screen. Even though this wireless reader packs full value for money there is nothing wrong with attempting to get a Kindle discount for your new purchase.

The internet is a great way to find coupons for a Kindle discount. The one problem which you may run into is that the coupons have expired. This can become frustrating as each coupon you attempt to redeem just does not work.

Amazon came out with the Kindle and right now they have the best pricing available for all their Kindle readers. They do offer a Kindle discount at certain times and you will need to check their website for any current promotions.

One of the best ways to find a Kindle discount is to check out the Kindle forum and ask if anyone knows of a great Kindle discount.

If searching on the internet doesn't provide you with any results then you have an alternative way to get a Kindle discount. It will take a little longer to receive your discount, but you will save some money on your purchase.

The best way to do this and get a Kindle Discount is to purchase your Kindle reader by using a credit card which gives you cash back. This way you will be saving some money on your Kindle either at the end of the month or the year. Depending upon when the credit card company reimburses you with cash back amounts.

There is no reason to have to wait to purchase your Kindle this way. Plus there is nothing wrong with wanting to save a little money these days. So if this sounds like your best bet then just head over to the Amazon site and choose the Kindle version which suits your budget the best.

Remember the latest version will be a little more expensive but it has all the features you could ever want. This includes a much bigger screen. The images are brighter and the text is crisp and clear to read. Plus you don't have to worry about glare when reading outside in bright sunlight.

The new Kindle is lightweight and is easy to hold for hours in your hands. You can easily download 3,500 books onto your reader with each book taking less than one minute to download. You really will be holding a mini library in your hands.

All Kindles come with a quick start guide and a pre-installed user guide on the Kindle itself. It truly is a take it out of the box and start using application. You will get a power adapter and a USB 2.O cable. All Kindles come with a standard one year warranty.

So as much as you might be looking for a Kindle discount online, we have provided a way that you can get your own Kindle discount any time of the year.
