Review of The Amazon Kindle 3G

The new Kindle is said to be one of the best reading gadgets on the market.

Some of the major benefits of this great new gadget are: built-in Wi-Fi, turns pages faster, no glare, smaller and lighter, weighs only 8.7 ounces, can hold up to 3,500 books, downloads books in 60 seconds, better contrast, darker fonts, dictionary lookup and free 3G wireless.

Even better, the new Kindle can hold a charge up to 30 days with the wireless function off, with wireless on the Kindle will hold it's charge up to 10 days.

It's small design still with a 6" screen allows you to hold it comfortably for as long as you would like to read. The Kindle is lighter than most paperbacks and thinner than a magazine. The page turners are located on the left and right side for easy turning no matter which hand you prefer to use. The soft back cover makes it easier to hold for comfort and does not generate heat.

You can choose from a selection of over 750,000 books as well as audio books, and periodicals. There are over 610,000 books that are available to download for less than $9.99. You also have the ability to download and read the first chapter of a book before you buy the book. This is great, you might read the first chapter and have no interest in the book.

In the near future you will be able to share your books with other Kindle users for up to 14 days. Any books you purchase from the Kindle Store are stored in your Kindle library and can be wirelessly downloaded again for free at anytime. You can categorize your books by Author, category or your favorite book collection.

If you are thinking of getting an e-reader, the new Kindle is the way to go. There is no wireless setup with the new kindle, some others require a wireless setup, the free 3G connection uses the wireless signal that cell phones use with no fees attached. There is no set-up, software or computer needed to use the Kindle, simply open the box and read. It can't get any easier then that.

It is a great gadget to have while traveling as it does not require a Wi-Fi hot spot to download books and has wireless coverage almost everywhere you travel.

This new Kindle is definitely the way to go.

Finally, the Kindle makes a great gift. Another great gift idea are Sterling Silver number charms. Whether Gold, silver or even brass, number charms are a great idea for most anyone.

The Amazon Kindle DX Review

E-book readers are taking the world by storm. It is no longer a trend to carry books or novels with you for travelling because they are bulky. Furthermore, an average person can finish a novel in three days, and he needs to find a new book to read after that. With e-book readers, a user can store up to 3500 equivalent books inside a small lightweight portable device. How convenient is that?

Introducing the Kindle DX, the next generation of the Amazon e-book reader series codenamed Kindle. Improving from the original Kindle First Generation, the Kindle DX now boasts a sleek black exterior. It has a new, high contrast E-Ink screen that has a 50% better contrast and a larger dimension of 9.7". What makes the Kindle DX a step ahead of other e-books is the screen. The screen does not reflect the glare of sunlight or other strong intensity light sources, making it easy for the user to read anywhere. With a long battery life of up to 1 week, you can be sure this is your good companion on travels!

There is a need to get the Kindle DX because Amazon is already deciding to shift more emphasis towards e-books due to its convenience. The New Kindle Fire Review

The Kindle Fire is Amazon's first foray into the tablet market. Although it is still technically being promoted as an e-book reader, it can actually do a lot more than that. It is a fully functioning 7" full color touch screen device, capable of delivering not only books, but games, apps, video and a lot more. It's a great crossover between e-book reader and tablet, and at a very low cost. This Kindle Fire review will look at some of the main benefits and features of this wonderful device.

How Does the Kindle Fire Compare with Amazon's Previous Kindles?

The biggest difference between the Fire and previous incarnations of the Kindle is the function. The original Kindles (which are still the best e-book readers on the market) performed one function, and that was to enable the user to read books. They do have secondary functions such as on board mp3 players for audible books or music and a basic web browser, but that is all they are.

The Fire is different because it is more like an all in one mobile entertainment center. It takes book reading one step further, and provides a fantastic screen to enable magazine content reading as well.

The Kindle Fire's Main Features and Benefits

To begin with, let's have a look at the main hardware specifications to see how it can handle things.

7" touch display with IPS (In Plane Switching), full color, 1024 x 600 pixels

8GB internal memory

Up to 8 hours battery charge

Wi-fi connectivity and USB connectivity

Dual Core 1Ghz processor

512Mb RAM

It also has its own apps store (in fact many regular Android users frequent it from time to time), whereby a great deal of extra applications and software can be downloaded and used on it.

As an e-book reader, it does the job admirably. The smooth presentation of the books, along with the interface for choosing, and reading the books is great. Pages flip effortlessly and the device is a joy to read from.

Magazines and comic books really come alive thanks to its beautiful 16 million color display. Amazon also has access to the widest range of magazines and comic books around, so you will be able to take full advantage with the Kindle Fire.

Amazon's Whispersync feature is also available on your Fire, enabling you to read the same book or magazine on a variety of without having to think what page you were on last. It will automatically open up for you.

Thanks to the processing power and amount of storage on the Fire, you will be able to watch TV shows and movies quickly and easily. Amazon Prime is the premier way of obtaining video and the first month is free with your Fire purchase. With Amazon Prime, you are introduced to thousands of popular TV shows and movies.

It is also possible to download Netflix and Hulu apps should you wish to choose those mediums in which to watch movies on the device, making it pretty flexible.

Amazon is an excellent source of obtaining music too, and again it is possible to download albums and songs to your device. The quality is superb and easily surpasses CD quality bit rates.

So far, this Kindle Fire review has covered the basic specs, reading, videos and music. What else could it possibly offer? The other main use people have for their tablets is of course internet access. The Amazon Silk browser is nothing short of amazing and offers smooth and speedy browsing. It also supports Flash, so while your iPad using friends struggle on flash web sites, you'll be displaying them with no problems at all.

Of course, access to your emails is also supported so you will be kept up to date at all times.

Amazon also offers free Cloud storage for all your Amazon content. At present, this is limited to 5gb per account, but no doubt this will be increased over time. This effectively provides you with 13gb of space if you add on the existing 8gb the Fire has.

For the more business minded, the Fire also supports reading of PDF and Word doc files, so you can take your business reading matters with you as well.

In all, the Kindle Fire is a superb machine, it is very competitively priced and offers so much in its compact body. This Kindle Fire review has highlighted many of the main features and benefits it has to offer, but there are many more to be explored. It is a wonderful device in which any e-book library would be at home with.

Amazon Kindle 3 Review: Head to Head Against the Nook and iPad

Kindle 3, a tasteful evolution to the most popular e-book reader, and now it fits in your stocking. The redesign of the Kindle adds a stylish new graphite finish. Meaning it no longer looks like a comically large second generation iPod had a bastard child with a PDF reader. It features a new 6.5″ E-Ink display with 50% better contrast than the Kindle 2. Images are crisp and sharp, blacks are deep and rich. At the same time it had a 15% reduction in size, and a 21% reduction in weight at only 8.7 oz. Page turn is now 20% faster although still a little laggy. A new rubbery finish was added to the back, which really lends itself to one-handed reading, and keeps your palms from sweating.

Although the redesign is far from revolutionary, it has some notable physical changes, besides proportions and color. The top row of numbers has been removed, and transferred to the symbol menu. The directional rocker now lays nearly flush with the body. Which may be a disadvantage to users with larger, sausage like fingers. A new sliding power button, volume buttons, micro usb port, and headphone jack were relocated to the bottom of the device. The headphones hag more comfortably. The side buttons used to turn pages have been flattered, and moved to the sides. Some people complain they are now easier to miss if you're buried in your book. I, personally, find them incredibly natural, and they make a satisfying nearly inaudible click when pressed. Advantageous if you're reading in bed while your partner is sleeping.

They've also doubled the storage space to 4GB, roughly 3,500 books, and doubled the battery life to 4 weeks (without WiFi disabled.) Just as the past model boast free 3G coverage so does this one but the $189 model also has WiFi capabilities. Including but not limited to transferring Audible audio books without the use of a computer. This leads me to the experimental features which are secondary not necessary.

Have you ever wondered what the interweb would look like as a silent film? Wonder no more sweet citizen! The Webkit delivers the internet in glorious (hilarious) gray-scale. Kindle 3′s browser, (as lackluster as it may seem) is a massive improvement on the previous generations. Full page view, now with photos! and page load speeds comparable to any smart phone. Article mode, which is supposed to change articles into text only format, leaves a lot to be desired. We've encountered no instance where it does anything significant at all, let along improve readability. It mainly just causes issues with margins and leads to a lot of scrolling. The new webkit can however zoom, display sites in actual size, or fit to device.

Although it doesn't support EPUB,(booooo) because of DRM issues, it does however support PDF with a cursor for highlighting text, and 6 new contrast options. You can also email PDF's directly to your kindle, and download them via WiFi.

Other new features include a microphone, download monitoring, full screen mode, 2 dictionaries, The Oxford Dictionary of English, and The New Oxford American Dictionary. Also Alt-Del combination for clearing text.

What We Like;

+ Light and thin ( highly portable)

+ Bright crisp display

+ Price $139, $189

+ 450,000 titles (30,000 are public domain)

+ Readable in direct sunlight

+ Archive, collections, create notes & bookmarks, as well as clipping articles

+ Callibre application to convert books to Kindle-friendly

+ Quality options such as text-size, type face, etc

+ Incredibly simple interface

+ Whispernet(over 100+ countries

+ Battery life!

What We Dislike (Or would've liked to have seen)

- No color

- No EPUB

- No video support (We wanted B&W youtube)

- Not great for text books or manuals (Sorry engineers)

- Board Games would be nice (Chess or Sudoku)

- Price $189 ( $99 would really make it a must-have)

- No back-lightingRecommended Accessories:

Kindle Lighted Leather Cover, Comes In 7 Colors

$59.99 (A little expensive but completely takes care of the back-lighting issue) available at Amazon.com and most places that sell the Kindle.

The Competition:

The Nook - Barnes & Noble $199

How it Outperformed:

+ In-house-support

+ Browsing with full text examples

+ More titles 100,000,000+ (and over 500,000 free)

+ E-Ink visplay LCD color display

+ LendMe- free book rentals for 14 days

+ EPUB, PDB support

+ Virtual keyboard

+ In-store discounts

+ Free wifi from AT&T at Barnes & Noble

+ Replaceable battery

+ MicroSD card slot

+ SonyReader library can be transferred

+ Sudoku and chess

+ Runs on Android

How it Underperformed:

- Smaller display - 3.5″

- Weight 12 oz

- Battery life 10 days (without WIFI)

- 2GB storage

- Price $199

- Screen contrast

- No text-to-speech

- No microphone

- No stereo speakers

- No Audible audio books (only mp3)

- No.txt,.doc,.docx support

- Slow and insensitive touchscreen (basically useless)

- Illogical and nonfunctional interface (Seriously I'm not trying to be mean but it's as if a blind person made it)

- Very buggy

- Horrid page refresh rate

We personally think the Kindle 3 blows the nook away. The aspects in which it performs better are overshadowed by it's faults. Which are distracting and frustrating, not lending to a proper reading experience. Which is the point of an e-book reader right?

The iPad - Apple - $486 $788

How it Outperforms:

+ Larger, color, capacitive touch screen

+ Video support (but no flash bawwwww.:[ Yeah I said it. )

+ iTunes

+ 1 GHz processor (no refresh rate issues here)

+ 16, 32, or 64GB storage

+ Bluetooth

+ Great for magazines and papers, technical manuals, and text books (due to color display)

How it Under-performs:

- Price $458 - $788

- Pay for 3G

- Weight/Size

- Battery life

- Oh you try to read in the sun, I dare you

- No notes, not even on the Kindle app

- Less titles (only 60,000 on iBooks for iPad)

- Books are more expensive

- Distractions while reading (Facebook, Twitter, etc)

I could sit and break down comparisons about who has more storage or a better screen all day. The real issue at hand is what do you want out of it? What do you need the e-reader for. If you want bright, bold, color pages, magazine articles, and YouTube videos. Then cough up the extra money and buy an iPad. If you want color display but don't care that the user interface may or may not have been coded by the mentally disabled. Then pay the extra $10 for the Nook. Barnes and Noble does have a broader selection of books. But if you're like us and you want a hand-held device because you like reading, not the bells and whistles. (Don't get me wrong who doesn't like toys.) Then the Kindle 3 is the cream of the crop, an avid readers dream of their entire library in the palm of their hands, in a package that weighs as much as a single paperback book.

Amazon Kindle DX Leather Cover Review

The new leather cover for the Amazon Kindle DX is surprisingly very simple, nothing overdone unlike the previous Kindle covers. The leather cover is nothing fancy on the outside, but dependability wise, it's really more than it seems, and it really fulfills its promise of protecting the Amazon Kindle DX.

This is one of the best things invented and I think that with e-books being published on the internet everyday, a gadget that will read e-books is the most helpful thing.  If you love your Kindle and if you love reading e-books then the jacket is one thing that you should be without.

What I love about the new DX leather cover is the simplicity of the clips and edges designed specifically to offer protection to the Amazon Kindle. It only has a few fastening hinges, all of which are enough to keep the Kindle secure and away from scratch or any kind of tampering.

The thickness of the leather cover, I'll say is to be about average. The thickness will obviously change and you can feel it, especially if you're someone who really appreciate the thinness of the kindle. But at the same time, it also protects very good. I've learned how to adjust to the thickness, since I originally wanted something that's both simple yet very effective anyway.

The outside of the Kindle DX leather cover is just a black rough genuine leather, and the edges are like soft felt. I love that it looks classy and it looks very professional. I love how the Amazon Kindle DX looks with its leather cover on, because it makes it look so much better. But what's the best thing about the Kindle cover? It's very affordable.

Kindle DX Review - New Kindle 9.7 Inch Wireless Reading Device - Is It Worth the Price?

Well supposedly the Kindle DX will be the biggest selling Christmas present for men this year. It currently has 2,332 Reviews on Amazon, 1,222 5-star, 237 1-star (as of Nov 10th 2010).

However, is it just me or are the iPad and the Kindle just simply awkward and impractical to use? I recently saw a guy on the underground with an iPad trying to stand there holding it in his palm with the other hand tapping it, all the while trying not to fall over.

Well I suppose with the Kindle you can grip it without your thumb covering the screen, but the damn thing's so slim I'd just imagine losing it in a week.

Should you buy Amazon's Kindle DX?: Well it comes down to what you want to read. If it's reading magazine articles, journal articles, and newspapers then user reviews on Amazon state that it's perfect for this.

If it's for smaller sized material then the Kindle 2 is more than proficient and cheaper.

However the search features of the DX may prove to be invaluable for students, and there's no doubt the DX helps in areas of portability..rice

Price: $359.99

*Note: (Cheaper Kindle Models less than half the price of the DX are available).

Features and Benefits:

High Contrast E-Ink Screen: Graphite Kindle DX uses all new and improved electronic ink display delivering 50% better contrast, creating clearest text and sharpest images.

Attractive Large Display: The 9.7? diagonal E-ink screen (essentially the size of a quite big hard-back book but obviously much slimmer), is much better suited to a broad range of reading material such as their graphic-rich books, PDFs and newspapers which are included, as opposed to their earlier smaller models.

Negatives:

It's 2010 - What about COLOR? Reading PDFs which come in color will look bland as will pictures from any form of media.

Folder organization is non existent! Right now, all articles/blogs/PDFs/newspapers/books etc get lumped together in one big menu. Not having the ability to organise everything into categories I think is a major floor and not too difficult fix. Maybe future upgrades will incorporate this.

The memory card slot is missing from the DX. Not allowing the user to add extra memory is annoying.

Do we Recommend it?

90% of reviews on Amazon do rave about it so it's not all bad but fixing some of the points listed under negatives would help. It's a bit pricey but this years must have pressie for some. The "DADDY" of Christmas presents if you're an avid reader.

A Review of the Kindle DX

The Kindle DX is Amazon's new Ebook reader and it is the big brother to amazons Kindle.

The Kindle DX is the same width as the smaller one, but the screen has been pushed out to a roomy 9.7 inches and the weight is up to just over 18 ounces but it is still very manageable.

It of course benefits from the same kindle Infrastructure and works right out the box wirelessly with no fees or contracts and a library of over 300,000 books, magazines, periodicals and newspapers which can be downloaded in 60 seconds or less.

The DX however has double the memory and will hold up to 3,500 books, (any others purchased can be held on the Amazon servers and downloaded at any time. The screen features the same 'paper ink' technology to make reading the screen like reading a printed page and there is no glare so it can be read in sunlight.

The DX also includes a couple of very cool additions from the first Kindle.

Firstly, the Display auto-rotates from a portrait setting to a landscape as you turn the device around. This allows the user to view full width maps, tables, graphs, photos and even web pages.

The Kindle DX also integrates a full PDF reader so you can store and carry all your personal and professional documents on the go. The 3G service also allows you to download them whenever you need them.

The price will obviously be prohibitive for some, but it is still the current 'must have gadget'.

Kindle 3G Review

You must have heard from people saying that they do not travel anywhere while they do not have their library with them. For some people, they normally find lack of space where they can keep their collection of books. No matter if you prefer the subjects such as History, Science, SiFi, Mystery, or Romance you are always going to find out a large number of books which you simply cannot let go. However, all these issues mentioned above can be easily solved when you are making use of an electronic book like one of them from Amazon named as Kindle.

Amazon Kindle is a device, which will enable you to make purchase of book right away over the World Wide Web, or you can also get complementary books from portals such as Project Gutenberg. You will able to allow buying books from the Amazon bookstore and then you can easily send them to your Kindle device by making use of the Wi-Fi or 3G technology. Just imagine that you are able to surf the Amazon bookstore, read out reviews, get recommendations by other readers about your purchases. You will be able to download samples of different books, check them and if you happen to like you can purchase them right away while are traveling in the subways.

You must be considering reading the Kindle 3g reviews before opting for it. The kindle itself involves a battery charger which is useful in charging some additional amount for the charger. While you are reading out the Kindle 3g reviews, you will come to know another benefit associated to Kindle is that when the battery has eventually 'had it' it can be replaced right away and you do not need to send it to a service center for replacement.

In the Kindle 3g reviews, you will able be able to figure out different sellers that are providing their services and normally are selling for approximately $10. However, some of the books may cost less and some may be costing more but still it is extremely helpful in enabling the consumer with a significant saving particularly when it comes to paperback or hard cover price. With Amazon Online, you will be able to sort out books of your preference by price and some of the Amazon titles are available for free. This is that if you happen to buy it from your system then your title will be downloaded automatically to your Kindle device the very next time when you are going to turn it on along with the whispernet feature enabled. You can also adjust the text size according to your needs and requirements.

Kindle With Global Wireless Review

The Kindle digital book reader has been a popular seller for Amazon since they first released it on November 19, 2007. This device has many selling points which make it so popular including the ability to carry around your "entire library" with you wherever you go. For many people it's done for books what the iPod did for music.

You can actually carry well over 1000 books with you wherever you go with the Kindle (and over 3000 books with the new larger Kindle DX) which is obviously a much easier way of carrying books than to actually carry around that many "real" books.

But up until now this product has only been able to work within the United States which obviously cut off a large portion of the world from it's use (and also made it not work for US travellers going on vacation in other countries.)

The Kindle With Global Wireless changes that. This new version of the Kindle (out on 10/19/09) works in over 100 countries all around the world and it can be bought online and delivered to people in those countries! In other words the market for this device just went up by over a billion people!

Amazon's Kindle With Global Wireless

Wireless service in over 100 countries.
No monthly fees.
Download new books in just 60 seconds.
Does not require a computer.
As thin as most magazines.
As light as most paperbacks.
No glare screen even in bright light.
Reads your books for you.
Carry about 1500 books in one device.
Long lasting battery (read for days without recharging.)

Amazon's Kindle With Global Wireless works in countries all around the world and can be purchased online in countries all around the world.

Review of Amazon Kindle DX For Sale - 3rd Generation Ebook Reader For a Paperless Society

Here is a hands on review of the Amazon Kindle DX for sale. Kindle has revolutionized the concept of reading and the 3rd Generation ebook reader, DX is one step closer to the paperless society in the making. This edition has once again outpaced it's competitors and looks as promising it can be.

So what are the salient feature upgrades?

If you consider the function keys, ease of navigation, joystick etc the DX functions like Kindle2, except for the fact that, this time the navigation keys are on the right hand side. Your concern about the lack of navigation on the left can rest assured, because it is unidirectional. Just flip it upside down by a whole 180 degrees, the display rotates along with it automatically like iPhone, to become a left handed one. So you can use it either hand to navigate leaving the other hand completely free. I have a habit of reading while lying down on my bed a lot of times. Now it's so much easier to read from any alignment and go from portrait to landscape and vice versa in a jiffy.

The most tempting feature is it's PDF reading ability with ultra ease, irrespective of the file size or complexity of the graphics. Now even if you have a heavy pdf, converted from powerpoint, coreldraw or else, it just reads fine with minimum loading time just like a PC but in B/W. Multiple columns or a single one, detailed pictures and diagrams, everything renders perfectly. This was indeed a big hitch with the K2. The bigger display screen coupled with the smart rotation feature makes it all the more convenient to use. So you must be thinking what if the print is straining the eye, just preset the font size and viola. Yes we are not in luck with the much desired zoom feature but changing the font size is easily possible.

The DX is slightly heavier than last time, but doesn't compromise on the ergonomics or the reading experience in any way. In fact, I say, it is now feels a little more like a hard bound book. The pre-release photos on the web made it look larger than it really is, but in reality the overall size of DX is just perfect for mobile reading. The digital e ink is definitely sharper on the new portable device.

Newspapers and magazines, basically all print productions tend to have a lot of tabulations and this made it less convenient to read in the last ebook reader. With DX, you are going to thank the large screen size like nobody's business. The first impression is almost like finding water in an oasis. Seriously it is such a big breather.

Both the DX and Kindle 2 are superb value for money. And If you love reading books, the amazon content, newspapers, pdf's and want to read with larger fonts, you would definitely want to settle for the new version. For my needs, I would like the latter any day.

DX Specifications In a Nutshell

The whispernet still is rock solid. No need for Wifi hunting.
Web browsing is completely free. The Browser is larger with the ability to show richer graphic details. It can come real handy just when you need it. e.g., searching for locations, accessing google maps, finding weather details just from anywhere.

Amazon Kindle Wins Over Apple iPad - Best Ebook Reader Review

It looks like more and more consumers are choosing to buy Amazon Kindle over the brightly colored iPad. Even if Apple develops thousands of applications for their new tablet, Kindle still remains to be on top of the list when it comes to being the best Ebook readers.

Recent studies have shown that majority of the consumers still prefer the Amazon Kindle over Apple iPad. However, a lot of people have also quoted that undeniably iPad is 'more appealing' because of its multi-tasking capabilities. The studies were conducted by the One News Page and involved questions regarding the best Ebook readers available in the market these days to a total of 1000 US and UK respondents.

This is indeed the beginning of the Ebook generation. Amazon Kindle has established a good position as an Ebook reader specialist. The new Kindle is lighter and cheaper than the iPad which explains why 60% of the respondents preferred it over the iPad as an e-reader. Apple iPad's platform is definitely giving Amazon a nice and stiff challenge and there are plenty of features to play for as iPad have just been recently launched earlier this year.

The new Kindle looks exactly like its predecessor in a lot of ways. Its 6-inch screen features a faster refresh rate and great contrast ratio. The new model is also very light and has a rubberized back which makes it very comfortable as it rests in your hand.

Amazon announced that Kindle is the best selling gadget on their site. In order to expand the availability of the new Kindle, the company also agreed to sell the model to more than a thousand stores in North America.

For the money the Kindle is definitely the best Ebook reader out there.

Kindle DX Review

This Kindle DX review will help you to decide whether this product is the right one for you. It is a wireless, handled device that was released by a subsidiary of the online publishing and retail chain Amazon. In brief, this electronic gadget was developed in order to enable users a better reading experience on a hand held screen. The device has been described as a product of upgrades rather than new ideas, with many of the "new" features contained within the device little more than improvements upon pre-existing ideas that were already featured in the device.

There has also been a great deal of criticism directed towards the Kindle DX on the basis of the rather high price tag, clocking in at circa $500, it is by no means a cheap option. However, what these critics (who seem hell bent on slandering and demeaning a perfectly legitimate product) forget is that when the original model was released, it was sold out within six hours due to extreme levels of demand.

The e-book reader boasts a 9 inch diagonal screen, which is a 50% increase in screen size in comparison to its two former forms which relied upon a six-inch screen much to the abject frustration and irritation of the consumers who were extremely vocal in expressing their distaste! The increase in the size of the screen is so much more significant than merely offering a bigger screen; this increase in size has by extension better enabled the manufacturers of the Kindle DX to also the screen resolution of the device to a rather impressive 1024 x 824 pixel resolution.

The Kindle DX also contains the innovative accelerometer function which allows for pages to be rotated both in a clockwise and anti-clockwise fashion in order to better enable the user to view data and graphics as well as awkward text. Another major criticism that was levelled at the former versions of the Kindle device was the rather short and paltry battery life and Amazon worked very hard on improving this and the end results are impressive. When operated in wireless mode, then the digital reader has a predicted battery life of 4 days and if the device is utilised offline, then this shoots up all the way to 2 weeks and this is a major improvement from the previous state of affairs.

One of the most remarkable features of the e-book reading device is that it manages to combine awesome power, effective viewing, ease of use all encapsulated within one rather neat and sleek package. Less than one third of an inch thick, this portable reader is an extremely lightweight device indeed and can easily fit in a pocket or folder with no trouble at all.

Not only can this electronic reader allow the user to read and view material, but also download material from accepted sites as well. Please be aware however that there are restrictions on the transfer of data between the DX devices. To learn more about the device, please go to Kindle DX Review. There is also a good comparison here for Kindle DX vs Kindle 2.

Amazon Kindle and Its Features Review

The Amazon Kindle, launched in 2007, is a digital book reader. This device allows you to search and download book, and show pages on its 6 Inch monitor. This device is a portable gadget and as light as a paperback of a book. Holding this device is like holding a magazine and reading its clear black and white font text makes for a simple and very relaxed reading experience.

Years passed, this device has experienced a few adjustments. The newest edition, the Kindle DX, now has a wider 9.7 - Inch screen display and can store numbers of books. This device can hold 3,500 books, compared to the original Kindle that can only hold 1,500 books. The Kindle DX also applies 3G adding up to Wi-Fi to download books. This explains that anywhere you go; as long as there is cell phone coverage you can easily download books through this device. Downloading books through this device is quite fast and usually, it only takes less than a minute to download a book. The DX has a new feature, the "Read to Me" feature; the nice thing about this new feature is you can listen to mp3s while reading the book you love by just plugging the headset into a jack on the Kindle device.

The Amazon's Kindle don't just download books, it can also access newspapers, magazines, journals and blogs. During the free 2 week trial, Dailies are automatically downloaded to your Kindle device, and then the user can choose if he/she wants to stop it or continue the service for a charge. The Amazon store bears 630,000 book titles in different topics: bestseller, children's books, non-fiction and fiction, textbooks, autobiography, classics and many more. The user can search through the huge collection by author or title. Before purchasing a book, the user can read reviews and sample pages of the book. There are also suggestions based on what several users are purchasing, and based on the users recent selections.

The user can read the books he/she selected constantly without charging the Kindle often, once the books are downloaded to the Kindle device. The battery energy lasts for about 2 weeks of usage if the wireless if turned off, and if the wireless is turned on it can last for about 5 days of usage. Even with nonstop reading, this device does not heat up not like other devices; this device won't be a distraction in any way while reading.

The user only pays for the books he/she purchased. Surfing and inquiring through this device for new books in the Amazon store is a free of charge. The books for Kindle are also much cheaper than a real paper book.

With the advantages and new feature of the Kindle eBook reader, black and white screen display makes customers satisfied and happy, it's like reading a real paper book. It replicates turning the pages and holding a real paper book very well. The screen display is very relaxing in the eyes, and many eBook reader users read on the Kindle for long periods without exhausting.

Electronic Reading Gadget Review: The Amazing Amazon Kindle DX

Lab126, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, introduced a revolutionary wireless reading device, the Amazon Kindle in 2007. This is the perfect gadget for avid readers who are always on the go. With it, users will have access to thousands of literary works at their fingertips anytime, anywhere. Since its release, the device has undergone several significant improvements and upgrade. To date, Amazon has released four models of the electronic reader - Kindle, Kindle 2, Kindle 3, and Kindle DX. While the Kindle 2 and 3 models feature a 6 inch display (similar to the original version), the Kindle DX features a 9.7 inch display. Additionally, all versions are only less than 0.4 inches thick.

Despite the size difference, like other versions of Kindle, the Kindle DX also uses the E Ink Pearl electronic paper technology for its screen. This technology ensures a better reading experience for each user. If a regular backlit LCD screen of a tablet or laptop glares while viewed under bright sunlight, Kindle's E Ink Pearl screen does not. In fact, the screen looks and reads like ordinary paper. Additionally, the Kindle DX also has eight adjustable font sizes for a more comfortable reading experience. With just a push of a button, you can easily increase or decrease the text size.

With a storage capacity of 4 GB, this electronic reading device can store up to 3,500 books, newspapers, magazines, journals, and other documents. Its Worry-Free Archive feature enables you to automatically keep an archival copy of your e-books even when you have deleted them. This way, you can re-download them anytime without having to pay a single cent. Furthermore, the feature also backs up the last page you read as well as annotations. This means that you can review all the bookmarks and notes you had made before you deleted the digital book.

This electronic reading device supports various document formats such as Microsoft Word (DOC, DOCX), PDF, HTML, TXT, RTF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, PRC and MOBI. To download the latest electronic books or magazines, you simply need to connect your Kindle DX to the internet using Amazon's Whispernet wireless network. The international version of the Kindle DX can also support 3G as well as EDGE/GPRS networks around 100 countries and territories. Unlike Wi-Fi connection which requires you to search for hotspots, as long as there is a 3G or EDGE/GPRS coverage wherever you are, you can always download new content with ease.

Amazon Kindle DX is a reading device acting like your professional and personal library. Get more interesting gadget review from our site.

The Amazon Kindle - Should You Buy One? A Quick Review

So what is Kindle: Amazon's New Wireless Reading Device?

Basically it's a very cool little gadget that allows you to read newspapers, books, magazines, blogs and other cool stuff on this little handheld machine.

It is wireless which means that you can take it anywhere and really lightweight (no more lugging around heavy books!).

But the best thing about the Kindle is that you can download over 90,000 books including nearly all of the New York Times Best Sellers and have them on your reader in less than a minute. Who needs ever to go to a book store again?

I became interested in the Kindle a few months back and just had to get one, after all I am a bit of a gadget freak, and I'm really pleased I did as it's so ultra handy. I'm in Australia, so getting the latest US newspapers and books usually means waiting around for them to be delivered to our bookstore and they are sometimes at least 2 weeks to a month late. Not anymore! This little beauty means I can have them nearly instantly.

At first I was a bit worried about how easy it would be to read off a little screen, but it is actually surprisingly easy. Apparently the technology works by producing a paper and ink effect (like a regular book) so it's very easy on the eyes and you don't get that 'glare' like you do reading from a computer screen.

If you have a favorite part in a book, it's really easy to search and find the information you are looking for too.

Another thing that I've found really useful is that you have instant access to Wikipedia which comes in handy when you are arguing with your Dad over some obscure fact!

Reading the reviews over at Amazon, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the Kindle isn't all it's cracked up to be, but on further investigation you will notice that most of the negative reviews are from people that don't even own a Kindle!

There main arguments being that it's too expensive or why would they want to read a book on a little machine instead of their computer. Interestingly enough these were the same arguments we heard about cell phones and iPods - and look how popular they are now!

Overall I think the Kindle is very cool, and if you can afford it then this little gadget is definitely recommended.

Kindle Fire And iPad 2 - A Comparison Review

It's amazing; only two or three years ago the market for tablet and tablet computing really wasn't very big. Indeed, laptops were still the rule, rather than the exception in the fight for market share and then came Apple's first iPad and the landscape shifted. It was more like the landscape turned upside-down as Amazon came after Apple with its own line of tablets called Kindles and Barnes and Noble brought out the Nook.

Here's an even more interesting fact that though Apple shifted the market forever with its iPad, it created an opportunity that others are filling - lower cost devices that are nearly as good. For example, Amazon recently brought out its new Kindle Fire and I've had a chance to put my hands on one and look it over. Apple's iPad is still list priced at US $499. Some users may like the 7-inch Kindle Fire form factor as it is smaller and easier to handle than the larger iPad and other than having both WiFi and 3G access - no big issue in most of the country - and dual cameras, both devices are pretty much the same.

Also I forgot to mention that you are locked into Apple's IOS operating system and its proprietary applications - yes there are lots of them. What this means is that Apple will let you play with Apple devices. The Kindle Fire, on the other hand, can share apps with any Android-based device, Windows 7 devices and any Internet-ready device. So, after using both devices, the user might ask himself why should he spend $300 more for a proprietary device, when an open device like the Kindle does nearly everything the Apple will do and actually has better pixel density (169 ppi versus 132)? Yes, some users may admit the Kindle Fire is smaller - about two inches -- but it also offers the same 16 million colors that the Apple iPad offers.

Like the Apple iPad the Kindle lets you view the image at different angles automatically. It also offers the same type of dual-core 1 GB processor speed, so speed is not an issue and neither is image technology because both of them offer in-plane switching technology (the images move as you move the device). And, after using the Silk browser that is available on the Kindle Fire, which is an open-style browser, would the user want to go back to a proprietary browser like Apple's Safari? It is true that Apple has loosened the fetters a bit on its browser so that you can use it under Windows, but you still need to download additional support software to make it work with your Windows device.

The advantages one might see to the Apple iPad: Its larger display; Dual camera; 3G access capability; Larger internal memory 16 GB versus 8GB for the Kindle Fire - not really an issue as there is automatic switching to a cloud drive for storage.

Maybe for some users the Kindle Fire makes more sense. Okay, the user would have to give up two cameras by not having the iPad, but he is also not locking himself into Apple's closed system. The Kindle Fire also offers background updating and syncing with your library and other choices. Its choices seem to be larger than Apple's librarying. Another item that some users may find important, email, is a non-starter because the it handles your email needs too. It also handles a wide variety of formats including DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, AZW files and more. Finally, it recognizes security formats such as WEP, WPA and WPA2 that our router offers.

For some users considering the type of intuitive touch-screen interface, lighter weight and smaller size (which are more convenient) and very reasonably sized screen, the Kindle Fire may come out on top in comparison, specially if one also considers the price. It's just that the supposed advantages may just not be worth the extra $300 for the iPad when the Kindle does nearly the same thing, only in a smaller package.
