Amazon Kindle DX Graphite - 5 Pros of the Hottest New Ebook Reader

July 2010 didn't just herald the monsoon in most parts of the US and UK (besides other regions). It also brought in a reason to celebrate lots more cool things, besides the pleasant weather - like Amazon's latest version of the Kindle DX, aptly titled Improved Graphite!

What's more, it's great as a gift idea too!

Pros of the Amazon Kindle DX graphite eBook reader - buyer benefits

It sports a bigger, sleeker and much improved 9.7-inch screen (as compared to the 6 inch screen of the earlier model), ensures 50 percent higher contrast ratio as compared to the older Kindle DX and steps up to a fashionable, corporate-looking graphite paint job that gives the latest version a definitely more stylish look smartly traded for the previous nice, but boring, white appearance!

Amazon informs buyers that the classic white look had a lot of takers but the reason for the sophisticated graphite color scheme lay in the design upgrades incorporated in the new, improved Kindle DX, which aims at delivering more in the same small package for a world of growing eBook readers.

Shipping is already in full swing with products flying off the shelves in the virtual world as Amazon offers an attractive introductory price for the Kindle DX graphite, tagged at $379 only!! The price slash of $110 as compared to the introductory price of the Kindle DX graphite has boosted sales of product in good measure since the improved features, like its designer appearance, color change and FREE 3G access all combine to give greater user advantages than any of the previous models from Amazon. (Yes, this means no more having to sign messy contracts for wireless support!)

This new version also has a cool auto rotation feature that supports clear and accurate display for landscape as well as portrait mode besides easy USB connectivity, worldwide 3 G capabilities and a convenient 3.5mm audio jack feature that enables convenient charging in less than 5 hours in addition to a 2-week battery charge!

A text to speech feature on this latest Kindle DX enables the device to 'read aloud' to the user, too!

In conclusion, with the competitive nature of online shopping sites offering additional benefits for 'early bird' buyers, the added value of the upgraded Kindle DX graphite from Amazon only gets further enhanced - considering the company has already announced a welcome price slash even while it offers lots more bells and whistles with this version.

Three Unfortunate Misconceptions About Kindle Ebook Publishing

Take a look around you the next time you visit a quiet beach, and I'm sure you'll see that besides the men and women who have plopped themselves down with a paperback novel under the shade of an umbrella, numerous others are reading material on their Kindle. Amazon has sold millions of these devices in the last few years, to the point that mainstream consumers who aren't particularly gadget lovers are using them.

In many cases, those Kindle users are reading books that also are on sale in bookstores and available for borrowing in libraries. But did you know that thousands of authors and entrepreneurs are now earning extra money and in a few cases a very good living writing content specifically to be sold for Kindle?

I've identified three misconceptions that keep some writers and experts from pursuing this exciting new entrepreneurial opportunity.

Misconception #1: You need a Kindle ereader to get involved in publishing for Kindle.

In fact, you don't need a Kindle device either to read works published for Kindle or to publish them. Amazon provides free tools for reading Kindle ebooks on your PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone or other smartphone. Amazon also provides everything you need for publishing your works for Kindle without owning a Kindle yourself.

I don't own a Kindle. I much prefer reading traditional books. However, I have painlessly published 19 ebooks for Kindle. You can, too.

Misconception #2: You need to write a full-length book to get involved in Kindle publishing.

This is also not true. Although six of my Kindle ebooks are digital versions of previously published paperback books, the other 13 are Kindle originals and only a fraction of their length. The shortest is just a little over 5,000 words. It prints out off my computer at 17 pages.

As long as you alert potential buyers to the shorter length of your compact eBook and price it accordingly, you can earn money from selling short reports on Kindle.

Misconception #3: You need to be a technical whiz to format a manuscript for publication on Kindle.

This used to be difficult. Amazon has now simplified the process by allowing properly formatted "doc" files to be uploaded for conversion to Kindle format. Amazon performs the conversion, and you can check in their online previewer to see if the Kindle version looks the way you intended it.

Now, if you can manage formatting a Word file according to easy-to-follow instructions, you can upload your work to the Kindle store without struggling with software or paying for technical help. Smashwords offers an excellent free style guide to preparing your manuscript for uploading to Amazon. Look for it in the left column of their home page.

If you enjoy writing, if you have files and files of useful content, if you have reports that are no longer selling from your website but could be easily updated, if you gave up on finding a traditional publisher for a manuscript you still love - these are all great reasons to look into Kindle publishing now. Chances are, any excuses you still have not to do it also involve misconceptions!

Cheap Ebook Readers - Kindle Versus Nook

What you've heard about cheap eboook readers is true, now is the best time ever to buy one of these nifty gadgets. Prices are lower than ever and there are millions of book titles available for anyone's reading pleasure.

But while there are a number of ebook reader brands, the major players can only be narrowed down to Amazon Kindle and Barnes&Noble Nook.

So, how does one stack against the other?

The Price

The cheapest price for a brand new Nook wireless is $149 while that of a brand new Kindle wireless is around $139. While the $10 dollar difference might make the Kindle the obvious choice for bargain hunters, there are some things about the book that might sway you in its favor.

Nook Features

Said to be the best in its class, Nook use a 16-level grayscale display that lets you read an ebook as if it were a newly printed paperback. Nook is actually touted the best in its class by the G4, 2010 Consumer Electronics Show. Unlike the Kindle, you can view book covers in color.

But what makes the Nook ebook really unique is its Exclusive LendMe? Technology. You can lend books to your books for up to 14 days to any Nook, computer, or Nook-enabled handheld device.

Wi-Fi enabled, you can use access free Wi-Fi by going into a Barnes&Noble store and at any AT&T Wi-Fi hostpot.

Kindle Features

Weighing in at only 8.5 pounds, you can read comfortably for hours with the Kindle with only one hand, although it isn't as much as fun as Nook in being able to view book covers in color.

The new generation Kindle automatically detects any Wi-Fi hotspots and can get you connected to the Amazon Kindle store, that is, if you have a username and password. It edges the Nook in terms of battery life, which can last 3 weeks to one month depending on whether you turn on the Wi-Fi or not.

Now that you know the differences between Nook and Kindle, get your Nook or Kindle from the cheap ebook readers page on http://cheapebookreaders.blogspot.com/

Kindle Ebook Reader

It brought online bookstores to people. Now Amazon is bringing ebooks to readers and the device to read them with too. We're stepping into the future of reading as more people catch on to reading ebooks. Without doubt, the Kindle ebook reader has done wonders in paving the way and now we have the Kindle 2, bigger, faster and more powerful. Fasten your seatbelts!

With the supply chain of books becoming increasingly e-based, paper-filled books were always going to turn into e books. Now that we have just the perfect all-in-one device to procure, read and bring with you all the books you want anywhere you go and anytime you want, that's hard to resist. Oprah loves her electronic book reader, so too will many of us love ours.

There are several brands of electronic book readers to choose from in the market. Having that said, don't bother to look beyond the top of the pack as many of the rest are still in beta. By far the two most proven brands are the Amazon Kindle and Sony PRS. Both have generated running series and are already into their latter models. The consensus though, is Amazon with its Kindle 2 is fast drawing away from competition with Sony's flagship PRS - 700 a distant second.

The Kindle ebook reader is in great demand. Availability of stock at Amazon is at best intermittent. Waiting time fluctuates and they are not accepting overseas orders although some 3rd-party distributers and retailers do ship abroad with due shipping charges and mark-up. They are also sporadically spotted on eBay and when they are, are surely to be accompanied by price premium.

Electronic book readers are a boon not only to people, they are environmentally friendly too. Imagine the number of trees a top brand like Kindle can be credited with saving from the paper mill for books let alone the total effect of all e book reader brands combined. Through the Whispersync, the 15 million or so iPhones and iPod Touches are recently equipped to read Amazon e-titles making them green too overnight.

Kindle ebooks save money too. Savvy readers would realize that Amazon subsidizes its Kindle book sales and provides free sampling of e-books so you are never mistaken about buying a book. That may be string attached to sell its electronic book reader but the bottom line makes sense at the end of the day. Even for occasional readers, this should be a no-brainer. That's on top of all the other good stuff it brings.

Functionality with style, that's the top-rated Kindle Reader. Yes, come and check out the Book Reader Electronic with us today.

10 Simple Steps To Self-Publishing Your Amazon Kindle E-Book

The Kindle is increasing in popularity every day and this is driving a huge demand for Amazons e-book reader. After only a short time the huge demand is making it extremely difficult for Amazon.com to keep up with the high number of daily orders. Whether you simply write in your spare time or as a full-time income, you can take advantage of this craze and monetize the ever-growing popularity of the Amazon Kindle by self-publishing your own e-book. Here are the key steps to self-publishing your own e-book and selling it quickly on the most popular online platform of its' kind: Amazon.com.

Step One: Creating An E-book Outline

This is the most important part of your Amazon Kindle e-book; you must choose a niche. This is a perfect time to decide exactly what type of e-book you'd like to self-publish. Maybe you wish to write about romance, possibly an easy how-to guide, or even horror... Whichever niche you select, start by creating an outline. Creating an outline will not only help you gather your thoughts, but will assist you in ensuring that you cover the topic chosen in a methodical and in-depth manner.

Step Two: Start Writing

Once you're ready to write your Amazon Kindle e-book, it's time to reference your outline. Having your outline nearby, you're able to write your e-book quickly and easily, while avoiding the plague experienced by most writers: writers' block. Be sure to also use a popular word processor, such as Microsoft Word, which provides excellent language, spelling, and grammar tools that you can easily use to "comb" through your e-book from the introduction to the conclusion. Although most e-book writers tend to focus on length, just cover the necessary points and elements of your topic. Length isn't important. However, never fill you e-books with "fluff"! Your reader's aren't looking for "fluff" or "filler" within your e-book, but rather solutions to their problems and desires.

Step Three: Proofreading

Microsoft Word, although effective, is not 100% guaranteed, and therefore it is imperative to seek the assistance of a third-party, such as an acquaintance, family member, or even a relative to review and evaluate your e-book for possible errors. Better an acquaintance locate an error early, than a customer, or worse yet, Amazon.com! So remember, always proofread your content prior to submission.

Step Four: Setup Your Free Account

In order to list your e-book for sell on the Amazon.com platform, you must create an account. Don't worry. It's absolutely free of cost. Simply visit https://dtp.amazon.com/ on your favorite internet browser and follow the simple instructions; however, if you already have an account with Amazon.com, feel free to simply use the account you already have.

Step Five: Self-Publish Your Amazon Kindle E-book

By going to the bottom of the page mentioned above and selecting the "Self-Publish With Us", you will gain immediate access to the Amazon Kindle section for authors wishing to self-publish their very own e-books.

Step Six: Proceed To Your Amazon Kindle Dashboard

Once you've successfully accessed your Amazon Kindle dashboard, just select the "Add A New Item" link, and you are well on your way to self-publishing your very own Amazon Kindle e-book (you will only be able to access this dashboard after logging-in to your account, so be sure to do so before completing this step).

Step Seven: Tell Amazon.com About Your New E-book

At this step in the process, Amazon.com will need additional information about your e-book prior to submission. Simply complete the form by providing the title of your Amazon Kindle e-book, your name, and a descriptive summary of exactly what your e-book is all about. The summary of your e-book is the most important part! Give as much detail as you can, seeing as this will be viewable by potential customers, and it is also a prime opportunity to "sell your e-book" with your words. So, take your time and word your summary correctly and accurately.

Step Eight: Submit Your Amazon Kindle E-book

Simply submit your new Kindle e-book to the Amazon.com platform. By locating the chosen file of your e-book on your computer, you can easily select it, submit it to Amazon.com, and it will be easily transformed into digital text, which is the preferred format for Amazon Kindle e-books.

Step Nine: Review Your E-book And Correct Any Mistakes

You can easily skip this step, but skipping isn't wise! Take a few brief minutes after submitting your content to check for possible formatting errors. Although formatting errors are rare, they could become apparent. Therefore it's important to preview your content in the digital text format and fix any formatting issues that may have transpired during file conversion.

Step Ten: How Much Would You Like To Sell Your E-book For?

This is the fun part! You get to actually set the price for your Amazon Kindle e-book. Just use your own discretion, but remember that Kindle e-books with less content often sell for less. Although your niche market will obviously expect to pay a little less for your e-book since you're brand new, don't undersell yourself. At the same time, don't oversell either. Just evaluate your market in comparison to your experience and set a fair price. Remember, the objective isn't to make a million dollars "out of the gate", but rather to gain loyal customers that you can sell to over and over again.

Well, from these quick ten steps, you can see just how easy it is to self-publish your own Amazon Kindle e-book. It's easy to do, but it's even easier to make money from. After you've completed the ten steps above, you can either wait for the sales to "roll-in", or you can be proactive and actively market and advertise your Amazon sales page by driving traffic to it. Regardless of the method you choose for promotion, if you write for fun or for money, you can easily take advantage of the popularity of the Amazon Kindle platform, all while making a handsome profit at the same time!

How To Include A Cover In Your Kindle EBook

I was recently asked, "Where does the cover go in my Kindle ebook?"

Actually there are two answers to that question. The Cover image can go:

1) In Amazon's Digital Text Platform and,

2) At the front of your ebook.html file.

Since your cover is in two separate places, there is not a conflict because one is used to sell your book in the Kindle ebook store and the other is so the reader can see your cover when they open your book in their Kindle eReader.

Is it absolutely necessary to add a cover image to the front of your ebook?

No, but it does enhance your reader's experience.

A Cover image is just like any other image in your ebook.html file so it uses the same code. For instance, let's say your Kindle ebook's title is "Conspiracy" and the cover image name is ConspiracyCover.jpg. So this is how the html code is written. Please take out the space after the

So let's discuss what this code means.

tells Kindle where your book should open.

If you don't put in this code, your ebook will start at Chapter 1. Which means if you have your cover, copyright information and a prologue before Chapter 1, your readers will never see this information. That's why placing the code before your image and the closing code after your image is so important.

Don't put the start code in and you could get reviews from ticked off readers which will hurt your sales.

; is used in the Kindle even though it's deprecated for websites. The Kindle uses very basic html so it's okay to use the center code. As the name suggests, your image is centered in any eReader that has Amazon's Kindle software on it.

Your cover image should be in the same folder as your ebook.html file along with both table of content files when you build your.PRC file. And yes, Amazon does recommend your ebook be a Palm Resource Code (.prc) file if you want your ebook to look just the way you want.

You should definitely make your cover in Color because the Kindle might show it in grayscale but the other devices (i.e., iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone, Blackberry and Android phones) are all in color.

Besides, you want to use the same cover when you self publish in Amazon's Digital Text Platform.

You're competing with thousands of ebooks in Amazon's ebook store so make sure your cover is great looking (meaning readable) in both the large and thumbnail size.

EBook Conversion for Kindle Devices - Why You Need It

As life gets more hectic, more people are reading eBooks instead of books. eBooks offer many conveniences that printed books do not. They are easy to buy, download, store and carry with you. You can store thousands of books in your portable reader and have them with you anywhere in the world.

eBook publishers and authors typically want to reach a wide reading audience. To accomplish this goal, it is important to include eBook conversion for Kindle as part of the eBook publishing process.

Here are a few reasons to consider:

Amazon Kindle Popularity

More people are reading eBooks on Kindle devices than on any other type of eReader. It is the number one selling eReader on the market. Other devices such as the Apple iPad are also popular, but it looks like the Kindle will remain the top contender for a long time. It is small, easy to use and inexpensive.

The Kindle reads a special eBook format known as the AZW file format. On the other hand, the Kindle does not read the EPUB file format, which is quickly growing to be an industry standard. In other words, if you want your eBooks to be readable by owners of Amazon Kindle devices, you need to make sure you offer then in the AZW format.

Amazon Marketplace Popularity

Amazon.com sells more eBooks than any other eBook store. Their eBook market share has been estimated at over 70%. Amazon is such a popular destination for buying eBooks that they sell more electronic books than printed books.

Books sold on Amazon are in the AZW file format. Therefore, to be able to sell your books at the most popular electronic bookstore on the planet, you have to make them available in the AZW file format.

A common question by people considering eBook conversion to Kindle services is whether they should make their eBooks available in multiple formats. The answer to this question is yes. If you want your books to have the widest reach, they should be created in both EPUB and AZW file formats.

The EPUB file format is used by many online stores. To be able to sell your books at those stores in addition to Amazon, you will need to create EPUB versions of those books.

EPUB also offers stunning multimedia possibilities that are not available in the AZW file format. These features are a must for children's books, and they can be used to add interactivity and pizzazz to virtually any book.

The task of formatting and creating eBooks in multiple formats can be challenging. Multimedia features in particular can require expert knowledge to implement. It is a good idea, therefore, to use a professional eBook creation and publishing company for your eBook to Kindle conversion needs.

Kindle Alternatives - The Sony Prs-505 E-Book Reader

The Sony Prs is one of the strongest rivals of the Amazon Kindle. Launched a few weeks after Kindle, Sony's e-book reader is quickly catching up in terms of sales and popularity. Both e-book readers basically share the same functions. The biggest difference in the features of the Amazon Kindle and the Sony Prs 505 would be their price, design, user friendliness, and readability.

One of the major differences is the price of these two models. Kindle cost about $100 more that the Sony model. Does the Kindle have any additional features that warrant this hefty premium? The main difference between the Amazon Kindle and any other e-book readers is Amazon's own wireless connectivity, Whispernet. This uses the mobile phone's 3G technology, enabling you to access the Amazon E-book store wherever you are. The Sony Prs-505 on the other hand uses normal WI-FI wireless technology. You will only be able to access Sony's E-book store though internet connection. Does this extra feature warrants the additional $100? You be the judge.

Another great difference between these two e-book readers is its design. The Amazon Kindle has a bright white exterior with a minimalist design. The Sony Prs 505 on the other has a metallic silver exterior, which is more sleek and thin-looking compared to the Kindle. Many reviews sited Sony's model as having a higher 'cool-factor' compared to the other models.

Personally, I think that one of the best features of the Sony Prs-505 is its user friendliness. Its user interface is shockingly simple and easy to use. Once connected to your PC, you can download over a dozen e-books in less than 2 minutes. There are nine buttons on the left side of the screen that allows you to easily access pages that you have book-marked. The only set back is that the page turns of the Sony Prs 505 is a little sluggish compared to Kindle.

Readability would be another highlight of the Sony model. The screen is bigger than the Kindle, which is a big plus. In addition to that, Sony has improved on the screen's readability under bright light where the words on the screen become more visible under bright lights. The screen contrast is sharp but yet easy on the eyes.

Amazon Kindle Self-Publishing: 5 Quick Tips For Writing A Kindle E-Book

Amazon.com offers multiple ways to earn money via their online platform, such as the Amazon affiliate and associates programs, but no one method has become more popular than Amazon Kindle self-publishing. Writing Amazon Kindle e-books is not only profitable, but can be extremely easy by implementing a few easy tips. Through these guidelines, such as creating an outline, not limiting your writing potential, not adding "fluff", proofreading your e-book before submission, and even adding a brief table of contents, writing an Amazon Kindle e-book will not only prove to be simple, but highly profitable. This brief article aims to cover these five tips and get you into profit quickly with Amazon Kindle self-publishing.

Create An outline Of Your E-book

Before you write one single page of your e-book, be sure to write an outline. Seeing as writing an e-book can be extremely challenging an intimidating to new writers, creating an outline allows you to break-up your e-book into small sections, rather than approaching the writing of your e-book all at one time. Many writers often compare themselves to popular Amazon Kindle e-book sellers and fall under the impression that their e-book must contain hundreds of pages in order to be successful. This couldn't be further from the truth; a majority of highly popular e-books are less than 50 pages, but no matter how long or short, they all began with a simple outline, created by the author, which was written one page at a time! While it is important to remember to create an outline, it's also important to not limit your writing potential.

Don't Limit Your Writing Potential

Don't limit your writing potential when considering Amazon Kindle self-publishing. What would you like to write about? Romance, how to make money, politics, or maybe home improvement? Well, it's your e-book and the possibilities are endless! Why not self-publish e-books within multiple categories? Keep in mind that the more e-books you self-publish, the easier and more frequently you will make money, so feel free to let your creativity flow. You are free to write on any topic until your heart is content, but never ever add "fluff" to your e-books!

Please, Don't Add "Fluff"

Never add unnecessary content, ramblings, or jut plain "fluff" to your e-books. Don't get entangled in the trap that usually defeats most self-publishers, which is thinking that every e-book you write has to be 500 pages long or it just won't sell. This couldn't be further from the truth. Just pick your topic and start writing, and if you're able to convey your point in 50 pages, then that will suffice, but never add "fluff" just to fill pages. Your readers won't appreciate it and it's definitely not going to help you make more sales, seeing as online reviews and word of mouth spread fast! Worst case scenario, just lower the price of your e-book to compensate for less content. Although "fluff" is often a snare of many Amazon Kindle self-publishers, failure to proofread has also proven to be detrimental.

Always Proofread Before Submitting

Always proofread your e-book before you submission. There's nothing worse than having errors brought to your attention that could have easily been fixed with a basic word processor, such as Microsoft Word. Microsoft Word easily catches most grammar, spelling, and language mistakes, however it isn't 100% full proof, so be sure to read over your e-book with a watchful eye at least 2-3 times prior to converting it to an Amazon Kindle e-book. Finally, be sure to include a table of contents.

Be Sure To Add A Table Of Contents

Regardless of whether you're self-publishing a fiction or non-fiction e-book, always include a table of contents after your cover to guide your readers while reading your materials. Simply add the name of each chapter, along with the page it begins on, and your readers will easily be able to navigate to their favorite chapters or even return to a particular chapter or page they've yet to finish reading.

Self-publishing can be extremely profitable, and Amazon.com provides a perfect platform to publish and distribute your next e-book. By simply taking action and practicing a few simple tips, such as creating an outline, not limiting your writing potential, not adding "fluff", proofreading your e-book before submission, and even adding a brief table of contents, writing an Amazon Kindle e-book is not only simple, but highly profitable!

Amazon Kindle Self-Publishing: Publishing Your First Amazon Kindle E-Book

Amazon Kindle is the newest trend in online sales, and everybody's doing it... Why aren't you? Maybe you've become distracted or just detoured by what you feel to be a lack of "technical know-how", but rest assured, anyone can publish their own e-book through Kindle self-publishing by simply writing their e-book, creating a cover image, and choosing a royalty option. It's just that easy. Don't believe me? Keep reading.

Keys To Writing Your E-book

For many, writing the e-book itself may be the most daunting challenge, but once it's completed, everything else is a breeze. When writing your e-book, keep in mind that your e-book must be formatted appropriately in order to be accepted by Amazon. Amazon Kindle eReader does permit most DOC files for electronic book conversion, however, using a basic word processor such as Microsoft Word or Open Office is recommended.

Amazon Kindle eReader allows most DOC files to be used for electronic book conversion, however,.doc files that possess complicated formatting may not function properly or may simply fail to upload all together. So if at all possible, try to use.doc files such as Word documents or Open office docs instead of.docx or portable document files. Using bold and italic formatting within your e-book is fine, but anything beyond that, which is more complex, such as bullet points, is simply not compatible with the Amazon Kindle eReader. Are you familiar with the saying, "A picture's worth a thousand words"? Pictures within your e-book are a must. Just be sure that you actually own the copyright, of course. All images should be used as.jpg files, and centered. However, if you attempt to wrap images around text, it may look good on your personal PC screen, but seeing as your content will be viewed on mobile devices, it will look completely different to your viewers. So when formatting your e-book, please keep these suggestions in mind.

After you've gotten the writing of your e-book squared away, it's time to create some catchy headline title pages, as well as acknowledgment pages. If you wish, you can insert a page break anywhere within your e-book that you feel a hard page break should be, and it will of course show within the final of your Amazon Kindle e-book. Many of you may find the technical aspects of word-processing difficult or time-consuming, and in this case, it's better to simply outsource this portion of the e-book creation to a qualified professional that can help you get the "look and feel" you desire.

Once you've got the "look and feel" you desire, just convert it to one of the accepted Amazon Kindle formats mentioned above, and then it's "off" to create the most coveted portion of your e-book: the cover.

Creative E-book Cover Designs

In this business first impressions count. You've only got one shot to "catch the eye" of your visitors, so you better make it count! Most e-book creators simply fail to take the time required to create quality e-book covers, and it shows not only through the visuals, but more importantly through their lack of sales. There are thousands of other e-books on Amazon, so be sure to make your "title" and "image" pop. Ready to get paid? Let's talk royalties...

Getting Paid & Royalties

OK. Concerning royalty options, you've got two choices: 35% or 70%, minus delivery charges. In order to select the 70% royalty option, your e-book must fall within the $2.99 and $9.99 price range. Your e-book must also not contain any public domain information and have a Kindle selling price equal to or less than the selling price of any hardback/physical book currently available for sale within your same niche. By making these requirements, Amazon ensures that e-books aren't overpriced and don't cost more than normal hardback books would. That makes sense right? Of course it does.

Well, now you know the necessary components to sell your first Amazon Kindle e-book successfully. What are you waiting for? Amazon Kindle is the newest trend in online sales, and everybody's doing it... Now you can too! Anyone can publish their own e-book through Kindle self-publishing by simply writing their book, creating a cover image, and choosing a royalty option. It's just that easy!

Overview - Amazon's Kindle - eBook Reader

When the Kindle wasn't yet in the picture, many companies had tried its hand at developing an eBook reader that people would actually use. At this time, downloading text documents onto a PDA device - Palm, Blackberry and the like, was the way to read eBooks whenever a desktop is not available. Then in November of 2007, the Amazon's Kindle was introduced and started to bring a better experience on eBook reading.

The advancements in technology, such as broadband and LCD contrast, in particular, have really accelerated the adoption of eBook readers. Adding to the allure of eBooks is the fact that there are so many titles available (200,000+). You're sure to find thousands of hours of enjoyment.

Manufacturers of Sony's Portable Reader, iRex Digital Reader, Jinke Electronics and Netronix are getting competitive to keep up with the success of the Amazon Kindle. And today, the resurgence of eBook readers is at an all-time high.

Reading an eBook on a PDA is nothing more like reading a Word Document, formatted into a book-like content structure. It actually just allowed one to look at text documents in the guise of "eBooks". This limited the commercial use of the content to basically manuals and corporate documents.

Oprah was quoted as saying that Amazon Kindle was "life-changing for me" and "the wave of the future." Why?

Amazon took a major leap forward by creating a product that physically looks like a book. This is what makes the Amazon Kindle so special. But, even more importantly, the text looks much like a text printed on a physical book. Reading eBooks on the Kindle is very "easy on the eyes" visually, since it uses the technology called E-Ink. The Amazon Kindle also has a high contrast screen, which does a great job of simulating a printed page. It is designed to be read under lighted conditions and can even be read under bright sunlight, just like a printed book.

The astounding size of the library is one of the biggest selling points of the Amazon Kindle. At last count, Amazon has over 190,000 books, which includes New York Times Best Sellers. The top U.S. and international newspapers are available for download, as well, including: NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Frankfurter, Irish Times, etc. And finally, over 1,000 major blog sites are accessible, including Slashdot, TechCruch, ESPN and more.

Another major leap for Amazon is how eBooks are distributed. Originally, Amazon had planned to distribute eBooks over Wi-Fi, but that would require customers to find a WiFi hot spot. Eventually, Amazon chose Sprint's high speed EVDO network. Using the technology called WhisperNet, customers can download eBooks anywhere that there's a cell phone connection. If the high speed EVDO network is not available, the Amazon Kindle switches back to the slower 1x speed.

Those mentioned here were just some of many reasons why Oprah Winfrey officially endorsed the Amazon Kindle in October of this year. She even declared it as her favorite new gadget.

Kindle Fire Vs Nook Color - New Color eBook Readers Go Head To Head - Which Is Best?

Amazon has officially announced the release of the Kindle Fire, a color ebook reader that doubles as a tablet PC. Barnes and Noble released their Nook Color, a similar device, last holiday season. It makes sense to compare these two devices as they are similar in price. But what about other features? Let's compare the Kindle Fire vs Nook Color and find the differences.

The Nook Color Main Features

7" ISP Color Touch Screen
Web browsing- Customized Android, email program
8GB memory, with expandable SD card slot
729 Apps available from B and N store
8 hour battery life
8.1″ x 5″ x.48"
Can play video, music, other multimedia

Kindle Fire Main Features

7" ISP Color Touch Screen
Web browsing capabilities- Amazon Silk browser
8 GB memory with CS2 Cloud backup/expanded storage
16,638 Apps available from Amazon.com
8 hour battery life
7.5″ x 4.7″ x.45″
Can play video, music, other multimedia

Taking a look at the main features of the Kindle Fire and Nook Color, one sees that there are a few glaring differences. One can see that Barnes and Noble offers 729 apps versus 16,638 apps at Amazon. This reflects the main difference between the two devices, in the way that Amazon just offers more content than Barnes and Noble.

Barnes and Noble has made it clear from the beginning that the Nook Color is a "color ebook reader" and they want to focus on the reading with their device. There has been customer complaints that it is slow to respond with certain things such as watching videos online. Again, it's a color ebook reader. It excels with reading magazines and other color publications.

Amazon aims to take a slightly different approach with the Kindle Fire. They advertise the device as more of a tablet PC than just a color ebook reader. This is evident with the extensive discussion about the new "Silk" web browser, according to Amazon, is a much faster mobile web browsing experience that uses Cloud technology to aid in web page load time.

Cloud Storage vs On Device Storage

Another big difference between the Fire and Nook Color is the way content is stored on the device, or off the device. Nook Color offers 8 GB of on-device storage out of the box, with the ability to expand storage up to 32 GB with an SD card. The Fire is different with 8 GB on-device storage out of the box, with unlimited use of the Amazon EC2 Cloud to backup and store as many files as the user needs or wants.

When comparing the Kindle Fire vs Nook Color, one can see there are many differences despite looking like very similar devices at first glance. Amazon's device could be seen as more a Tablet PC than Barnes and Noble's device which is a self declared color ebook reader.

The Latest Amazon Kindle Wireless eBook Reader - Get the Facts Straight From a Buyer

The latest Amazon Kindle Wireless eBook Reader has been in the spotlight for the last month. Much has been written about the Kindle reader and being constantly used by me for the last three weeks, I decided to share my views regarding this gadget.

One week after being launched last month, I decided to purchase the latest Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device. To be honest, this gadget is sleek, light and quite stunning in appearance. However in this short review I would like to go beyond appearances and share with you some thoughts to help you reach an informed opinion.

1. The Kindle reader has a 9.7" display which has definitely been kinder to my eyes as opposed to its predecessor which was only 6". Amazon claims that the screen looks like real paper and I can say that this is no idle boast.

2. Screen rotation allows me to zoom in or look at pictures, tables, maps etc., from portrait to landscape view! Be warned, do not leave the AUTO feature on as the battery will quickly discharge.

3. Buttons are on the right so I am lucky to be right handed. Left handed people will feel awkward using it.

4. 3G Global wireless coverage is helpful in my job as it requires me to travel. I had no problem downloading abroad and neither in my kitchen!

5. No PC required - a sigh of relief - as I am not PC friendly!

6. Perfect for bookworms like me as I suffer from lack of storage space at home when it comes to books. I now feel I have a mobile library. At 19 ounces (500 grams) the Kindle reader is kind on my shoulders and arms, and I can pack 3,000 eBooks and documents.

7. More than 400,000 eBooks are available for the Kindle reader, so I am spoilt for choice. Checking out the first chapters FREE, before buying an eBook is really helpful. Finally a dictionary is included.

8. I do need any bookmarks, and this has been most appealing to me. Ever close a book and forgot to put your bookmark? I know the feeling too well. Kindle reader remembers the last page of every eBook I was reading.

I sincerely hope after reading this brief review you are more knowledgeable about this wireless device. The Kindle reader has dominated the eBook industry and is here to stay. Moreover, eBooks are the future for environmental and technological reasons.

9 Tips to Help You Get Your Ebook Onto Kindle

Amazon Kindle is an amazing tool, you don't need a physical Kindle to read Kindle books you can read them with a PC or Mac App. This means that publishing your existing ebooks in Kindle format extends your ebook's reach! With the might of the Amazon publishing market behind you, you can position your self as a market leader in your industry through your written word.

Here are 9 tips that will make the publishing experience easier to manage

1. Write the Ebook!

Don't fail at the first hurdle, look at your existing content and see what you can create a great ebook with. It's easier than you think. Many people are put off writing an ebook, take advantage of that and write your own.

2. Choose your topic carefully - write about something you know and love - when your passion shows in your writing your audience can feel it, can read it and they will respond to it. Look at the content you have pulled together and inject your passion into it.

3. If you have carried out great webinars / teleseminars / training videos then look at having them transcribed to help you get the great content you already have into words.

4. Consider hiring someone to write the ebook for you. A freelance writer / ghost writer can take a weight off of your mind if you are not that confident in your material. What would work better is you writing and injecting passion into your ebook and then hiring a copy editor to tidy it up for you.

5. Writing helps position your business, once you have an ebook written you need to convert it into Kindle ready format ready to upload. You will need to do a little keyword research before you start the uploading process so you have an idea of the size of your potential market.

6. If your writing is stronger than your technical capabilities hire a virtual assistant to upload your ebook to Kindle and format it if you can't do it yourself. Don't be afraid to hire in help. It needn't break the bank if you are a solo entrepreneur.

7. Get a nicely designed ecover to upload to Kindle. Amazon accept jpeg and png images. Yes, we are not meant to judge a book by it's cover but a nicely crafted cover can make a big difference to your sales - it's worth making the effort.

8. Don't expect to get rich from your Kindle books if you are not prepared to market them! Once your Kindle book has been approved you have to get out there and promote it!

9. Your Kindle books can be promoted in multiple ways via your blog, via your podcast, using social media tools and of course emailing your existing customers base and asking for their help.

Review of Amazon Kindle DX For Sale - 3rd Generation Ebook Reader For a Paperless Society

Here is a hands on review of the Amazon Kindle DX for sale. Kindle has revolutionized the concept of reading and the 3rd Generation ebook reader, DX is one step closer to the paperless society in the making. This edition has once again outpaced it's competitors and looks as promising it can be.

So what are the salient feature upgrades?

If you consider the function keys, ease of navigation, joystick etc the DX functions like Kindle2, except for the fact that, this time the navigation keys are on the right hand side. Your concern about the lack of navigation on the left can rest assured, because it is unidirectional. Just flip it upside down by a whole 180 degrees, the display rotates along with it automatically like iPhone, to become a left handed one. So you can use it either hand to navigate leaving the other hand completely free. I have a habit of reading while lying down on my bed a lot of times. Now it's so much easier to read from any alignment and go from portrait to landscape and vice versa in a jiffy.

The most tempting feature is it's PDF reading ability with ultra ease, irrespective of the file size or complexity of the graphics. Now even if you have a heavy pdf, converted from powerpoint, coreldraw or else, it just reads fine with minimum loading time just like a PC but in B/W. Multiple columns or a single one, detailed pictures and diagrams, everything renders perfectly. This was indeed a big hitch with the K2. The bigger display screen coupled with the smart rotation feature makes it all the more convenient to use. So you must be thinking what if the print is straining the eye, just preset the font size and viola. Yes we are not in luck with the much desired zoom feature but changing the font size is easily possible.

The DX is slightly heavier than last time, but doesn't compromise on the ergonomics or the reading experience in any way. In fact, I say, it is now feels a little more like a hard bound book. The pre-release photos on the web made it look larger than it really is, but in reality the overall size of DX is just perfect for mobile reading. The digital e ink is definitely sharper on the new portable device.

Newspapers and magazines, basically all print productions tend to have a lot of tabulations and this made it less convenient to read in the last ebook reader. With DX, you are going to thank the large screen size like nobody's business. The first impression is almost like finding water in an oasis. Seriously it is such a big breather.

Both the DX and Kindle 2 are superb value for money. And If you love reading books, the amazon content, newspapers, pdf's and want to read with larger fonts, you would definitely want to settle for the new version. For my needs, I would like the latter any day.

DX Specifications In a Nutshell

The whispernet still is rock solid. No need for Wifi hunting.
Web browsing is completely free. The Browser is larger with the ability to show richer graphic details. It can come real handy just when you need it. e.g., searching for locations, accessing google maps, finding weather details just from anywhere.
Internal storage capacity of 3,500 books, documents and periodicals.
Auto-Rotating Screen
Large 9.7" Display with 16 shades of gray
Built-In PDF ReaderHuge access to 390,000 books, newspapers, magazines, and blogs, Best Sellers, New York Times, New Releases etc.
Amazing thin. Just 1/3 inches like a real magazine
Faster book downloads within 60 Seconds.
And what not? The Kindle DX is absolutely a superb e-reader. The most perfect travel companion. It won't take long enough for Amazon to get it out in color display soon.

Kindle DX Vs The Sony Reader Daily Edition - The Best Ebook Reader Is?

There are a lot of ebook readers out there on the market, but it makes the most sense to compare the Kindle DX vs. the Sony Reader Daily Edition if you are looking for the best quality ebook reader money can buy..

What's so special about the Reader Daily Edition and Kindle DX readers? They both represent the "Top-of-the-line" ebook reader designs for Sony and Amazon. Both have more robust features than their cheaper counter-parts; the Kindle 2 and Sony Reader Touch and Pocket Edition.

Here's a detailed comparison between the two big boys on the market.

The Display Screens for both the Kindle DX and Daily Edition use the E-ink technology that is used for the majority of ebook readers on the market today. Pictures and text look sharp and clear, in 16 shades of gray. Text can be resized to much larger or smaller, depending on the reader's needs.

The Sony Daily Edition has a touch screen navigation, whereas the Kindle DX is push button navigation on the bottom and sides. This seems to be a hot point of debate for many. Seeing a touch screen, to many people, means that it must be easier to use, more advanced, and therefore better right? On the contrary, it could be seen as actually getting in the way during the reading experience, since if you touch the screen with a swiping motion the page changes. Obviously, it's user preference when making the choice.

Screen Size- The Kindle DX has a 9.7-inch screen, whereas the Sony Reader Daily Edition is 7-inches. The DX obviously has more display screen and reading screen space, and will in turn be a larger device.

Rotation for Landscape View- Both the devices let you read in a "landscape" or "wide-screen" view, just by turning it on it's side.

Standard Memory Space for the Readers differ widely, as the Kindle DX is 3.2 GB (3,500 books) and the Sony Reader Daily Edition is 1.6 GB ("hundreds" according to Sony). However, you can add an SD card to the Sony Reader to add more memory.

Wireless- Both the ebook readers allow you to download books, magazines, and other publications wirelessly without the need to hook up to a computer. Download time for a book is around a minute with both devices.

Global Wireless? However, only the Kindle DX works in other countries outside the U.S.. Meaning, you can't hook up wirelessly to the network to get new publications (daily newspapers) or new book titles when travelling abroad, or if you simply live outside the U.S..

Document Types and Number of Books and Publications Available- The DX and the Reader Daily Edition allow you to read PDF's, and other document types as well on the device. Amazon has just over 350,000 titles available, whereas the Sony has those same titles, plus the "public domain" works that Google has compiled over the last few years. These are older books that no longer have copyrights applicable to them.

Taking Notes on the Device- The Sony Daily Edition has a "stylus" that comes with it to allow you to take notes in the books and on documents, etc...

And last but not least, the pricing of the two - The Kindle DX is priced at $489 whereas the Reader DE is priced at $399.

So there you have a detailed comparison of the features of, arguably, the best two ebook readers on the market today.

So Which Is Better?

Nook Vs Kindle Vs iPad: Comparing the Heavyweights in the Ebook Reader Market

With ebooks selling more briskly than paperback editions, it seems that the sales of ebook reading have nowhere to go but up as well. Because of this, consumers are even more interested in which ebook reader is considered "the best". This article is a three-way match up - Nook vs Kindle vs iPad - and we'll quickly evaluate the features of each device that could make it the best reading companion.

It's worth noting of course that while both the Barnes & Noble Nook and Amazon Kindle are dedicated ereaders, Apple's iPad is not. It's a tablet PC which can also be used as an ebook reader. So another question that may perhaps be answered in this post is whether a multi-function gadget as the iPad can take the place of a device that's solely for ebook reading.

To help us pick out the best choice in this Nook vs Kindle vs iPad comparison, we based our evaluation from these three questions:

1. Does size and weight matter to you?

Some people's reading habits are limited to a novel, and perhaps a magazine or two, every week. Others, on the other hand, could finish 3 fiction books in 5 days or over a weekend. The type of reader you are - the first, the second, or somewhere in between - counts for a lot when choosing an ebook reader. This is because the device's size and weight would play a big role in your comfort as you are reading.

If you are a reader in the true sense of the word, then the Kindle should zoom up to the top of your short list. Weighing a mere 8.7 pounds, and measuring 7.5" in length, 4.8" in width, and 0.335" in thickness, it is smaller than the Nook (7.7" x 4.9" x.5", 12.1 ounces), and even more so than the iPad (9.56" x 7.47" x 0.5", 24 ounces). With a Kindle, you can snuggle up in your favorite chair without having to worry about holding it with two hands or ending up with wrist fatigue.

2. Would you prefer an e-ink screen or a color touchscreen display?

A full color multi-touch LCD certainly looks attractive put alongside the rather drab grayscale e-ink display. However, you should know that reading on one screen is a totally different experience with reading on the other. With a bigger, colored LCD like the one the iPad has, you'll be able to enjoy magazines and illustration books. With e-ink technology which the Nook and Kindle both utilize on their 6-inch screens, you can lose yourself in your favorite novels for hours without feeling any eyestrain or experiencing any glare from the sun or certain lighting conditions.

The type of display your ereader has would also reflect on the performance of the battery. Colored displays use up a lot of power, hence the iPad can only manage 10 hours of continued use. The Kindle is the most efficient of the three with a battery than can last up to 30 days, while the Nook can go 10 days without a recharge.

3. How much are you willing to spend?

The price is always a key component in any purchase. In this case, the scales tip in favor of the dedicated ebook readers Nook and Kindle, which cost $199 and $189 respectively for 3G with Wi-Fi models, and $149 and $139 for Wi-Fi only models. The iPad costs a lot more with prices starting at $499 for the Wi-Fi only and $629 for 3G with Wi-Fi version.

Nook vs Kindle vs iPad: Which Should You Buy?

Each of these devices has their own set of pros and cons. While the iPad has the steepest price tag, it lets you do more than just ebook reading, and has the prettiest display to boot. Nook and Kindle are the most suitable for long form reading but the Kindle has the upper hand with its longer battery life, more compact design, and lower price.

Ultimately, it all comes down to which device best fits your needs and budget. You decide.
