New Amazon Kindle 2.00 upgrade were scheduled to hit the stores this holiday season, with an upheld release since October 2008. But now it's tentatively scheduled to go on sale in "early next quarter - Q1". Amazon, primarily know as the largest content provider and seller, had its first foray into physical electronic devices that infuses offline technology and online information in real time. And Jeff Bezos, the chairman and CEO of Kindle promises a better and improved release shortly. The expectations have risen tenfold with Oprah endorsing the Kindle now.

* An updated version 1 with the same sized screen
* A smaller form factor
* Thinner than Original Kindle
* An improved interface.
* Button issues like accidental page turns to be fixed.
* The Version 2 model, shaped like an 8 1/2 x 11-inch piece of paper, will be comparatively bigger than the current model.
* Both versions of kindle would come in multiple colors and will be targeted at younger readers, a niche still unexplored to a great extent.
* The technology, functions and convenience will have almost Skipped three or four generations with a tech leap.
* A larger screen student version is scheduled for the first half of 2009.
The original Kindle lunched in November 2007 has been been a tremendous success, though Amazon is yet to release specific numbers related to its sales figures. But its successful venture into this new innovative electronic device has sparked of speculation about a wave of ebook related products to hit the market in 2009, giving a lot of competition to Amazon. As the niche still remains unexplored by many multinationals, Amazon has been a little less aggressive in churning out upgrades. As an offshoot, in my Amazon could even consider licensing the platform to Chinese factories and using their prowess in mass production and feature enhancements.
Kindle 2 upgrade
According to Citigroup Analyst Mark Mahaney the projected figure of Amazon Sale may be over $750 million in kindles by 2010. The same report released in may also stipulated that Amazon has sold between 10,000 and 30,000 Kindles to date, suggesting that it may result in a similar exponential growth in popularity and sales comparable to the iPods during its climb from 129,000 units sold in its first quarter to worldwide dominance, with over 100 million sold till now.
