I got my first kindle some months ago and it is now a firm favorite of mine. It's very easy to carry around weighing in at just over 10 ounces and about the same width as a normal magazine.
I was a little worried at first that it might be difficult to read, but it's designed to read like ink, the same a piece of printed paper. the 6 inch screen also has no glare, like a normal notebook or smart phone has which is especially useful is you are reading outside or in direct sunlight.
The Kindle Reader also doesn't heat up so there si no problem holding it. You can adjust the size of the text with a button press to suit your own eyes and pictures and images can be zoomed in on to display over the full screen.
There is a button on either side to turn pages with and a 5 way controller to adjust and flip through articles with.
The Kindle is completely wireless and will work straight out of the box. It connects up to the kindle network so you can download books, newspapers and magazines. There are no contracts or wireless bill though, it's all included and a book takes less that 60 seconds to download.
The battery will last 4 days with the wireless turned on all the time. However, you don't need it to be turned on except when you are downloading so when it's off the battery will last 2 weeks or so.
The Kindle comes with either a special power adapter, or a USB cable to plug into a PC, Mac or notebook.
The is a large and ever growing number of books available for kindle which now sits at over 300,000. I love it and wouldn't go back to ordinary books now, my only criticism of it is that it is not cheaper.
