3 Great Reasons Why You Need A Kindle Cover

The Amazon Kindle is a truly excellent e-reader. It makes reading on an electronic device bearable and is a great boon for travelers like me who like to travel light, but are also kind of bookworms. Books are heavy, and one great solution is the Kindle. However, the Kindle is only 0.34 inches deep and since it's prone to getting bumped around, it's little wonder that getting a case is high on many people's priority lists. Here are three great reasons why getting a Kindle cover is important.

1) Protects it

This one is probably the best reason why people get cases for their fragile electronics and it's a good one at that. An effective case will prevent the Kindle from getting scratched or banged about. That screen is especially fragile and it's important that it is protected. Yes, sure, you could get one of those 'screen protectors' but they add glare and an extra thing to look through when you are reading your device. It's far better and simpler to just get a cover that covers the screen when you're not using it.

2) Less of a target for theft

A good cover looks a little like a journal and won't attract much attention. This is of course assuming that you don't get something that is blatantly obvious as a cover, such as a silicon case or other thing which shows off exactly what it is that you have. While a good rectangular case looks a little like a journal, it's not guaranteed it will prevent theft, but it certainly is less noticeable then an unprotected Kindle.

3) Feels better in your hands

Again assuming that you don't get something made of silicon, a case (especially one made from something organic such as leather) will make your Kindle feel less like a gadget and more like you're holding something beautifully organic. Of course, that's one of the main reasons that people don't like e-readers, part of the reading appeal is that books do feel quite nice in the hands. A good leather case will make your Kindle feel better to read, more pleasurable as your hands have something to do, rather then grip a plastic device. Most people won't factor this reason in when buying a cover, which is probably why the leather ones have such good reviews. Not only do they protect your Kindle, but they add so much to the reading experience, it's surprising!
