Amazon has now released a brand new Kindle 2.0 at the Morgan Library in New York. It now works faster by turning pages quicker by twenty percent, and it's thinner at 0.36 inches. It's twenty-five percent thinner than the iPhone in fact. Kindle 2.0 has better located buttons, preventing accidental page turns so widely complained about in the original Kindle. It also has the Read to Me feature, which read the text out loud to you. Demonstration of this feature showed that the voice is surprisingly clear and crisp. Stephen Kind jokingly commented in a Kindle 2.0 demo that the voice sounds much like a GPS voice. It's not perfect but does the job rather decently.
Kindle 2.0 now has a five-way controller for selecting and highlighting text. It has also improved its graphics display by having 16 shades of gray now, as compared to 4 shades before. It has 2GB of internal memory now, and can be charged with the USB. They have replaced the odd looking square buttons on the QWERTY keyboard with sleeker round keys. This keyboard makes it easy to search for text, which now can be confined to the book you're reading.
There is also the new WhisperSync feature which allows you to transfer the book you are reading currently to another Kindle 2, and it will cleverly display the last page read. Overall, Kindle 2.0 provides a smoother and more enjoyable experience for book lovers.
