The Amazon Kindle 3

Technology knows no limits. The redesign of Amazon Kindle 3 proves just how fast the revolution in digital reading devices is evolving. While there are other products on the market like the Apple iPad and the Barnes and Noble Nook while they offer similar functionality, there are a slew of reasons that you may want to own Kindle 3, even if you're a happy Kindle 2 owner and are skeptical that the new and improved Kindle is indeed really new and improved.

Size is everything so let's begin there since at 8.7 ounces, Kindle 3 offers greater mobility. As devices that take up less space in our lives at the same time that they provide greater functionality are the most desirable. This is a good reason one.

Another is that Kindle 3 has a memory that's double the size of Kindle 2. For naysayers who believe they can find greater memory in another device, it's close to impossible that the 3500 books that Kindle 3 stores could be read in a single lifetime. Of course some might say you're comparing apples -- no pun intended to oranges -- when comparing the iPad, for example, to Kindle 3 because Kindle 3 is a dedicated reading device. In not trying to offer the kind of sizzle that a more multifunctional hand held device does, however, Kindle 3 is able to provide what some might say is the best experience imaginable if you consider eReading an electronic facsimile of reading a book and not the equivalent of video gaming.

E Ink screens don't burn out as quick as LCD displays do. They also don't have back-lighting glare, so again if you're intent is to read, then Kindle 3 really does enable a reading experience that's as close to curling up with a good book that you can get.

Last, but certainly not least, there's nothing worse than state of the art hand held gadgets that arrive on the market that the average person can't afford. Without naming names, let's just shift the discussion to the positive fact that Kindle 3 is an affordable $139 so at such a reasonable price, it's possible to own one in addition to other bells and whistles devices that may better fulfill your other multimedia and phone fantasies.
